When You Don't Have A Hat

An invitation to a party is not something that I am happy to receive. I don't like people, they are just too peoply, but this was something that might benefit me if I were to attend.

I rang a friend and she said "You love Carmen Miranda, why not wear a flower hat, no one will think of that"

All I could find was a plastic plant pot and an indeterminate house plant.

I put it on and looked in the mirror, a definite council-estate Carmen Miranda, now could I get to the place by bus wearing this?

I left my flat and got laughed at by a couple of local gangs of kids, but oddly the plant in the port seemed to be getting agitated.

I got on the bus and sat at the back so people couldn't see me....

Police Report

We were called by the bus company. The cleaners found the body at the depot. It was like nothing they had seen. The man's head had been devoured by the root of some kind of mutant venus flytrap in a plastic plant pot tied to his head. The plant has been sent to Kew Gardens to be investigated and the man's next of kin will be informed.

Entertaining as always 🤣. It will give me nightmares though. Isn’t that how cordyceps mushrooms grow? On an insect host? 😩

  • I dont like parties too because I don't like people as they're just too peoply! 🤣🤣🤣 I loved the ending so much!

That ending is stealthy! Love you take on the prompt!

Very amusing tale! A bit gross, plant eats brain, I can see the headlines now. Well-written and entertaining. 👍💙😊

That was great!! I did NOT see that ending coming. What a fantastic response to the prompt :)

Oh, that was quite a surprise. Well done.

  • Shades of "Little Shop of Horrors". I wonder if they will get to the root of this & from whence the attack stemmed. Will their investigation bear fruit or will they simply leave it alone? And where does Blossom fit into all of this?

Fun take on the challenge with a fun twist. Well done.
