Lily Mayhem walked through the meadow watching as the sun started to peak over the horizon. It had been forever since she had last been up early enough to see the sun rise. She stood there with her arms floating freely at her sides. She felt free from all of the decisions she was being forced to make.

Why couldn't things be like they were back when she was younger? Sadly she knew that it was because you can never turn back time. "You can only move forward and you can never turn back." She remembered her Aunt Mable used to say.

The only thing that Lily could do in the moment was enjoy the present for just what it was. She had so many things to do but she chose to be in this very spot. This was the meadow where she used to take Ben her first love. Each and every time she would come to this beautiful grassy meadow she would revisit the person she once was.

So much had changed in her life she had broken up with Ben when things got difficult only to end up marrying a man who was just about the same but had more stability with his actions. She looked up to the sky and started to ask herself. "Who am I supposed to be?" With the warmth of the sunlight on her face she could see little birds soaring through the sky before one fluttered in front of her face.

The bird chirped in greeting almost like it was an old friend and fluttered to a bush off in the distance. Lily chose to follow the bird just wanting to get a better look at it. When she got closer to the bird she saw it's beautiful red feathers. "I haven't seen one of you in a long time." She muttered as she looked over the bush to see a man sleeping behind it.

She took a few steps back from the bush and shook her head. There's no way that the man she saw with ashy blond hair and a Daughtry t shirt was Ben. The bird started to chirp again almost like it was chuckling at her. Why in the world would he even be here? She asked herself as she stared at the bird.

Suddenly she could hear the man moving behind the bush and hoped that he wouldn't see her. Where the hell can I hide? She looked around and found a tree near by. Maybe if I move quickly he won't even know that I'm here. She thought to herself and prepared to move.

She headed to the tree as she heard him make noises that he used to make when he stretched when they were younger. Sadly she didn't make it behind the tree in time because she could already feel someone's watchful eyes on her.

"Lily Mayhem is that you?" Ben's gruff tenor voice asked as he caught up with her.

Something about his voice still burned in her ears. She remembered how good she had it with him and as she turned around she asked herself why she left the relationship behind in the first place. She nodded in response to her name, "Long time no see Ben." She had said as she wondered why he had been asleep behind the bush.

"That's for sure." He replied as he nervously rubbed the back of his neck. "You know I have actually been thinking about you a lot lately and I find it kind of odd that you all of a sudden pop up out of no where."

"I do tend to do that to people." She shrugged and started to laugh a little, "I guess it's just one of my super powers." She added looking up into his eyes.

The moment that they shared was electric and felt like it was fated. Lily just looked at him and couldn't help but remember how he used to run around with her trying to get his hat back from her. Those days were so fun and innocent, moments she wished never shifted.

"So what were you doing hiding behind that bush?" She decided to ask with a gentle smile.

"I fell asleep there because the owner of the land has me work on the landscaping and yard work here." Ben laughed, "Definitely, not something many would think I would do for work."

Lily found herself looking at the meadow and actually taking in the work that was done on it. When they were just teenagers the meadow was just green or yellow grass depending on the time of year. Now it was enhanced with those beautiful wild flowers.

She turned to look at Ben and smiled, "You did all of that?" She asked as she began to walk toward a patch of the wild flowers.

"Nature did most of the work I just threw seeds here and there." He admitted as he tucked his hands into his pockets. "What are you doing back in town?"

"I moved back after me and my husband Jacob Wilkins got our divorce finalized." She explained and felt glad that all that was over and done with. She heard her watch chirp at her. "I'm sorry to cut this short but I have to get going." She dismissed herself and waved goodbye as she left.

That was when she woke up from a deep sleep hearing her loud alarm clock chiming at 5 o'clock in the morning. Back to reality. She thought disappointingly as she realized that the things she felt she experienced for real were all just a dream.
