Unraveled-part 11
Fixer Upper
Patricia bolted out the door and grabbed Hoggleswash, who seemed pleased with himself. Howard assessed the gaping hole in the man's pants and calmly ushered him in the door while Samuel distracted the other 3 men with a scripture in Spanish. While they were discussing the message of Samuel's, Howard led the embarrassed man to the bathroom while Patricia flew into the laundry room and flung open the dryer door. She stifled a giggle and Yarnell instantly knew his hairdo was awful. Without missing a beat, Patricia pulled him out of the dryer and grabbed the sewing kit off the shelf, plunking it on top of the washer as she took out a spool of black thread and a needle. Howard had retrieved the man's pants and brought them to Patricia, and he stood looking at the thread while trying not to laugh at the frizzed ball of yarn sitting silently on the dryer. Patricia quickly looked away and said, "OK Yarnall, now's your chance to redeem yourself after all the incidents you've instigated.. I would like you to get with this nice thread here and fix these pants. So, introduce yourselves to each other and make us proud. I'll be back in about ten minutes" and turned and gave him a big smile. Before Yarnell could even finish "no, wait! hold on a...",
Patricia and Howard were gone- Patricia to make sure the dog was secured still and Howard off to the bathroom to explain to their new friend that his pants were being repaired.
Samuel felt terrible that this man's pants were ruined, and offered to give him a pair of his, but Patricia insisted that he wait for a few minutes and that she was sure that Yarnell could orchestrate the repair. Samuel agreed that the musicians probably would appreciate having everyone's pants matching but he pulled a pair of pants out of his closet just in case.
The three friends got bottled water for the band members and invited them in, and everyone sat around the kitchen table introducing themselves. Patricia excused herself and went to the laundry room where she found a rejuvenated Yarnell telling the thread about the squirrel incident. The pants were laying over the dryer door and Patricia picked them up and started looking for the repair job. She couldn't find it. She looked at Yarnell, and said " where is the rip that you repaired? I can't find it." To which Yarnell replied, " what is the sense of repairing something if you can still see where it was ripped?" "well, you guys did a great job, thank you so much!" Patricia said on her way out of the room. She motioned to Howard and Samuel, who were sitting in the kitchen with the other men, and Samuel got up and went over to her. She handed him the pants and he headed to the bathroom with them. A few minutes later, he came back with the band member who was all smiles at having his pants fixed.
The musicians were now hydrated and cooled off, and they all had their pants on, so they went back out front and started playing their music as a thank you to the friends for helping them out and making a bad event into a good one. Patricia went back in to talk to Yarnell and to put the thread away, and she thanked Yarnell and the thread for saving the day. The thread was very quiet. Samuel and Howard were saying goodbye to the men when the Amazon truck showed up. The driver got out and loaded a gigantic box onto his hand cart, heading for the front door. He handed Patricia his scanning device and said " yeah, this one's requiring a signature." Patricia did not remember ordering anything, but it wouldn't be the first time that a surprise showed up that she forgot that she had ordered. Samuel and Howard headed to the farmer's market to get some dinner supplies and Patricia lit her favorite candle, a black one that Howard brought with him from a trip- it smelled so amazing.
She took a deep breath in the quiet moment, and then she heard giggling coming from the laundry room and smiled to herself, and she thought about all the crazy things that Yarnell had caused to happen. " We could write a book about it but nobody would ever believe it" , she thought, laughing out loud to herself.
Then she remembered the huge box and headed to the front door to see what was in it...

Oh the fun and goofiness continues! This was very entertaining. …and the Amazon truck is back, lol 😂
This story is hilarious! It's funny how they all reacted to the pants incident. Made me wonder, what would I do in a similar situation? I've had my fair share of unexpected moments. Also, I'm curious if Yarnell actually managed to fix those pants. It sounds like quite the challenge!
