United-Chapter 2:The Day They Came

 It's been a week since the first day of school. I've come to enjoy school... Outside of Rebecca, since then she makes walking the halls difficult. If anyone talks to me when they don't have to they get a glare from anyone loyal to her. I enjoy the learning part and the teachers. They seem like they enjoy talking to me more than others but that just may be my imagination.

     Balancing school and home has been difficult. I've noticed if I go straight home start cooking, clean and try to help the boys for the first 3-4 hours he lets me do my homework as long as it's where he sees what I'm doing. I walk into school like always, Rebecca and her hellhounds are making snide remarks like always. I walk into the office to say hello to Mrs. Watcher. I walk in and there is a big group of kids. 

     "Hey... Mrs. Watcher do you need some help?" I ask because she looks overwhelmed and flustered. 

     "Hey, hon yes I would love your help. If you could call their names and give them their schedules I'll give them the rest of their paperwork. Do you mind?" She asks as I come behind the counter 

     "Of course, I don't mind! What are friends for? So where are their schedules?" I ask and she hands me a stack and I actually look at the group. There are seven of them, man. I look at the first name. 

     "Buck?" I ask and an almost 6-foot tall kid, who doesn't even look like a student comes up. He carefully took his schedule out of my hand like he didn't want to hurt me or something. His hair was black but some strands were white, interesting. 

     Brain: He is cute

     Me: Yes he is

     "Thank you." He whispered and I stopped staring and looked at the next one. 

     "Tris?" A full-on country-style girl came up, her hair is in a messy bun, she is also very tall and really skinny. 

     "Thanks," She said and I went on 

     "Alyx?" I say and the craziest colored hair I've ever seen comes up. Her hair is well past her knees, the tips are red then blue then green then black...wow. 

     Brain: I love that hair

     "Thanks, girl." She said 

     "Ashley?" She looks about the most normal out of all of them. Her hair is short and black and looks like an angry teen. 

     "Hmph." Which I'm guessing is her thank you 

     "Brillo?" He also looks normal, he's wearing black jeans and a band shirt. His roots of his hair are yellow, a bright yellow. 

     "Gracias," He said, he's Spanish which I didn't realize. 

     "Azazel?" And a younger-looking version of Brillo comes up, same hair as well. 

     "Gracias." He says as well 

     "Last but not least Daimyin," I said and the tallest guy there comes up and gets his schedule, I was staring a little too long like Buck. His hair is the reddest hair I've ever seen. 

     Brain: Man he is cute as well

     "Thank you love for helping me, that took half the time. So you guys should look around, would you like me to show you around?" She asked as she asked me. I was getting my stuff to leave 

     "Sure that would be wonderful," Tris said. 

     "Hey we didn't catch your name," Daimyin said in a soft voice. Which I'm guessing he's talking to me 

     "Oh, I'm Elexis. It's nice you meet you all." I said 

     "Hi Elexis," they all said in unison, it kind of creeped me out but I just smiled and started to leave. 

     "Hey, do you know if we have any classes together?" Alyx asked 

     "Umm I don't know can I see your schedule?" I ask and she hands it to me. Huh, we have the exact same schedule. 

     "So we actually have the same schedule," I told her then Mrs. Watcher chimed in. 

     "They all have the same schedule so it made it easier for them to get around," She said. 

     "Oh well if you guys want I can show you around then," I said and they all said yes or shook their heads. Then the bell rang 

     "Well, you guys should get to class." Mrs. Watcher said and I smiled. 

     "We're going Mrs. Watcher see you later," I say and we leave. I lead them to Ms. Guards' class. I can feel them all staring at me. So I decided to spark a conversation 

     "So... Where are you guys from?" 

     "All over really, we were in an orphanage together until a nice couple adopted all of us," Buck said and I probably looked shocked. 

     "We were very fortunate," Tris said. 

     "Yeah I guess, so this is Ms. Guards class," I say as we get to her door. I go ahead and go to the back. They talk with Ms.Guard and then come to the back with me. It looks like they're fighting to see who gets to sit beside me but that's ridiculous. Daimyin and Buck win, Tris is in front of me and Alyx is behind me. 

     Brian: These guys are just gonna ruin themselves

     Me: I know

     "You know you guys don't have to sit back here with me," I tell them 

     "We know but we want to," Daimyin says and Tris gives him a death stare. He just smiles at me. Why are they being so nice? We kept going to class and then it was anatomy, the one I dread the most because it's the one class I have with Rebecca. I go to my usual back seat and Daimyin and Brillo got to be beside me. Then Rebecca comes over 

     Brain: Oh great

     Me: Keep cool

     "I'm sorry but who are all you guys?" She says in that so nice voice. Then they introduce themselves. 

     "Well I'm Rebecca and if you guys want to get anywhere you don't want to sit with this... Cockroach." She said. She like to use different names for me but cockroach was her favorite.

     Brain I hate that one

     "Well, I think we know who really is the cockroach. And it isn't Elexis." Daimyin said and she stormed off. I tried my best not to laugh because the class is starting. It was finally the end and as we walked out of the class I busted out laughing so hard my eyes were watering and my stomach hurt. I laughed all the way to the cafeteria and then I noticed they were all laughing with me. Wow, that's a first. I pull myself together as we were walking through. I notice they go to the line for food. 

     " Hey, are you gonna eat?" Buck asks. What do I say?

     "Ahh no I'm ok, you guys should and go sit somewhere, away from me," I say and I walk off. Hoping no one follows me. I go sit at my usual corner table. I never understood why I sat here. This table is huge when I take only a bit of it. I sit down and start working on homework as usual. I then decide to go to the bathroom. I do my stuff and walk out to see all of them sitting at my table. I don't know if I should be scared or not but I walk up and sit down in my seat. I notice Daimyin and Buck are beside my chair. 

     "What are you guys doing here?" I asked 

     "Sitting and eating lunch. How about yourself?" Alyx says sarcastically 

     "Haha that's not what I meant, you guys shouldn't sit with me, I'll just ruin it," I say 

     "Ruin what? We already ruined it in anatomy. Besides your a really nice girl" Daimyin says and I blush. 

     "You were the first person to be nice to us in a long time, so our loyalty goes to you," Buck says and earns him another stare from Tris. 

     "I don't understand why you guys are being nice to me," I say forgetting my homework that if I don't do I won't get it done. 

     "What do you mean, don't you have friends?"Brillo asks and I just look down picking at my fingers. 

     Brain: These guys are digging

     "I'll be back," Buck says and he looks angry I watch him up until the bathroom. 

     "Did I do something wrong?" I ask 

     "No he just has some anger issues to work on," Tris says and it makes me feel a little better. Then there's an awkward silence. 

     Brain: So you did something wrong

     "So are you going to go get some food b...Elexis?" Daimyin asks. How do I tell them? So I just stay quiet 

     Brain: Why are they asking 

     "Hello, earth to Elexis? Are you going to eat something?" Tris asks 

     "I don't have money." I quietly say

     "What did you say I couldn't hear you?" Brillo asks I get mad because why do they care

    "I don't have money ok!" I say louder than I wanted. I didn't even realize Buck was back.

     "Come on Lexy." He says and holds his hand out

     "Why?"

     "I'm getting you some food, if I have to drag you up there I will." I look at him astounded then look at the rest of them and they agree. So I give in and take his hand, I feel a sort of spark but I don't pull away. He held my hand all the way up there and help the tray, not letting me go at any point He bought me some pizza, some fries, a piece of cake, and a pop. Damn, I didn't realize how hungry I was.

     "Thank you so much, Buck." We walked back and I was so hungry I didn't realize I was already starting to eat some of the fries. We got back and I started eating so fast I didn't even realize they were all staring at me.

     "Sorry I didn't realize how hungry I was," I say feeling like a pig now.

     "No, it's ok!" Alyx says

     "When's the last time you ate?" Daimyin asks

     "Are you asking for a full meal or just anything?" I ask because if they want to know a full meal than a week ago on the first day of school when we had eggs and bacon. I didn't realize Buck stormed off again. Damn, what did I say?

     "Anyway, I don't get much food... He doesn't like it when I eat... I'm sorry I don't know why I told you guys that" I said and they all look like they wanted to hug me. Then the bell rang and we finished lunch.
