A Friendly Attitude Transforms a Small Shop and the Entire Community

Mr. Lee is an amiable old man in his seventies. Every morning, he likes to take a walk to the small convenience store nearest to his home. There is a newspaper there that he loves very much, and he likes to read the news at home leisurely and enjoy this peaceful pleasure.

However, every time Mr. Li walked into that convenience store, he was confronted by an arrogant and rude salesman named Zhang Yu. Zhang Yu always looked unhappy, impatient with the customers and seemed uninterested in his work. He often cast contemptuous and dismissive glances at Mr. Li, with an unpleasantly cold attitude.

Seeing that he had to endure such disrespectful treatment every day, Mr. Li's friend and neighbor, Lao Wang, curiously asked, "Mr. Li, why do you still insist on buying newspapers at this store? They are so rude to you, you can go elsewhere to buy them at all."

Mr. Li smiled and replied, "Old Wang, I understand your concern. But you know what, I have been buying newspapers from this store for many years. This habit has permeated every aspect of my life and has become a pleasure for me. I don't want to change my habit because of the attitude of one person who has affected my mood and quality of life."

Old Wang pondered for a while, feeling admiration for Mr. Li's wisdom and tolerance. He began to understand why Mr. Li did not choose to gamble on buying newspapers elsewhere. He realized that changing habits and comfort zones would bring unnecessary trouble and time costs, while Li chose to keep his habits and mood and not let the rudeness of others affect his inner world, which was a sign of wisdom and nobility.

As time went on, Mr. Li's tolerance and calmness began to influence Zhang Yu. He gradually realized that his attitude was impolite and rude and began to reflect on his behavior. Every day, as he watched Mr. Li smiling and buying newspapers, Zhang Yu felt guilty and ashamed. He began to realize that every customer should be treated with kindness and respect, regardless of the number of items they buy. He realized that his arrogance and indifference would only damage the good relationship between the customer and the store and affect the store's reputation.

Gradually, Zhang Yu decided to change his attitude. He took the initiative to apologize to Mr. Li and said he would pay more attention to the quality of service and the needs of customers in the future. Mr. Li accepted his apology and encouraged him to be able to become a better salesman.

From that day on, Zhang Yu began to treat every customer with a more friendly and cordial attitude. He learned to smile and listen, and to communicate with customers with genuine care. Gradually, the atmosphere of the store changed, and customers felt the warmth and sincerity from Zhang Yu, who changed his opinion of the store and became loyal customers.

Mr. Li still insisted on buying newspapers from the store every day, and Zhang Yu's attitude gradually changed. He no longer did it just for moral reasons, but truly realized the importance of treating people kindly. He deeply appreciated the important impact of his attitude toward customers on the store's image.

One day, when Mr. Li came to the store again, he was surprised to find Zhang Yu standing at the counter smiling and greeting customers. His eyes revealed sincerity and warmth. Mr. Li was so relieved that he never thought his persistence and tolerance could have such a great impact on a person.

From that day on, a special bond was established between Mr. Li and Zhang Yu. Every time they went to buy a newspaper, they would have a short conversation. Lee shared his views and insights about the newspaper with Zhang Yu, while Zhang listened, showing genuine interest and respect.

As time went on, the store's reputation grew. More and more people chose to buy items at the store, and they felt the warm and friendly atmosphere there. This also led to a steady increase in the store's performance, attracting more customers and attention.

Mr. Li's wisdom and tolerance made him a regular customer of the store, and he was deeply pleased with the change in Zhang Yu. And Zhang Yu learned an important lesson about how important the attitude and behavior of treating people can be to others and to himself.
