The Wheel
Alondra's Quest to Change History and the Unforeseeable Consequences That Followed

Alondra was a brilliant physicist, a pioneer in the field of time travel. Her passion for time travel began when she was just a child, and her grandfather told her stories of a world that once was. A world that was full of wonder, magic, and mystery. He told her stories of how people once traveled on foot, how they carried their goods on their backs, and how they used their strength to move massive objects.
But for Alondra, those stories were not enough. She wanted to experience that world herself, to witness the dawn of human civilization. And so, she set out to create a time machine that would take her back to that time.
Her first attempt at time travel was a failure. She had built a rudimentary machine, but it was not powerful enough to transport her through time. Undeterred, Alondra continued her research, and soon she had built a new, more advanced machine.
This time, her machine worked. She stepped inside, and with a flick of a switch, she disappeared. When she opened her eyes, she was standing in a vast, open field. The sky was a deep blue, and the sun was just rising over the horizon.
As she looked around, she realized that she was standing in the middle of a prehistoric village. She could see people moving about, gathering food, and tending to their homes. It was everything she had dreamed of.
But then she realized something was wrong. There were no wheels in sight. She had traveled back to a time before the invention of the wheel. And that's when she knew what she had to do. She had to change history.
Alondra knew that changing history was risky, that it could have unforeseeable consequences, but she also knew that the reward was worth it. She set out to find a way to introduce the wheel to this world, to speed up human progress and usher in a new era of civilization.
For weeks, Alondra worked tirelessly, observing the people of the village and studying their way of life. She tried to find a way to introduce the wheel without disrupting the delicate balance of their society.
Finally, she came up with a plan. She would build a wheel in secret and use it to demonstrate its usefulness to the people of the village. If they saw how much easier it made their lives, they would surely embrace it, and the rest would be history.
And so, Alondra set to work. She scavenged for materials, using her advanced knowledge of engineering to fashion a crude wheel. It was far from perfect, but it would do.
She waited for the perfect moment to unveil her creation, and when it came, she wheeled it out in front of the village elders. At first, they were hesitant, suspicious of this new invention, but Alondra quickly showed them how it could be used to move heavy objects, how it could be used to transport goods, and how it could be used to create new tools and machines.
The elders were impressed, and they quickly embraced the new technology. Before long, the wheel became a staple of their society, and progress accelerated at a pace never before seen in human history.
But then, something strange began to happen. Alondra noticed that the world around her was changing. The sky grew darker, the air grew colder, and the plants began to wither and die. It was as if the world itself was rejecting her invention.
At first, Alondra was convinced that it was just a coincidence, that the changes were due to natural causes. But as the days went on, the changes grew more severe. People in the village began to fall ill, and crops began to fail. It was as if the world was punishing them for embracing the wheel.

Beautiful story. We never did reinvent the wheel. Check out my Bonnie and Floyde.
