His touch was sharp and shook her to the core. Their eyes met and there seemed to be something almost glowing about him. She quickly brushed it off as a trick of the light.

The rest of the school year, he kept her intrigued. When he was around she could imagine being without him but when he was gone those feelings faded like a distant dream.

Time moved on. They faded in and out together. Her life took a strange course with danger and violence. Her ideas of love were diminished and broken. How could this be all there was?

Life felt mediocre - always chasing an impossible dream. Something was missing. She could never seem to fill the hole inside her. She traveled around the world, went to school, read books and found love over and over. But an emptiness eroded inside her.

Her memories felt shattered and she couldn’t always find her way back to herself. Her mind searched through the library of her past, hoping for answers. Her world swirled like a whirlwind, dark and nauseating. She feared she’d never get out.

Too much time had passed. Her memory and feelings were gone. She lay in the darkness and emptiness. Waiting. Searching. Endless waiting.

When she saw the light again, she understood this time. She knew that it was him, it had always been him. When he came to her, she had no hesitation this time. This was it: what she had been searching for.
