The morning started with a beautiful sunrise. Not a single cloud in the sky. Mary was so excited to go on her first boat ride, that she hardly slept that night. Mary stood at 5'6" with long blonde hair. She always was looking for an adventure. Today was going to be one. One way or another.

John had asked Mary weeks prior if she wanted to go with a group of close friends. The group was going on a boat. Mary had jumped at the chance for this was her first boat trip. So when she arrived at the docks she paused to take it all in. Closing her eyes she breathed in deep the salty air. She listened to the seagulls squawking. Next, she could hear fishermen talking about a good day to fish. After all that she opened her eyes.

There in front of her was a beautiful yacht that had a single word on the back "Sunset". Almost as if it was a promise or a warning. After staring at the boat for a while she quickly rushed to board giggling. John was standing next to the boat waiting with a smile on his face. "Let's start our adventure." He said.

Soon the boat was ready to leave with everyone on board so it set out to go over waves. Mary stood by the railing watching the waves crash against the sides. She hoped to see a whale and a dolphin. Their group of 6 were all laughing and enjoying the day, telling jokes. When evening came they stopped and decided to throw a party.

Music was playing, couples dancing, and soon beer and wine were passed out. Mary was having fun laughing, watching everyone doing silly dances. All seemed right in the world. She went below real quick to the bathroom. On her way back she heard Jane and John. Not wanting to interrupt she quickly and quietly went back upstairs. She chose not to think about what she heard for it wasn’t her business.

The moon soon was high in the sky when people started to wind down. Still giggling and tipsy they made their way below to their beds. Till Mary was the only one left. She listened to the sounds of the ocean waves as music played in the background. Suddenly she stood up and rushed to the railing having heard a different sound.

Looking out she saw the anchor being raised. Confused Mary looked around but saw no one. “Who was raising the anchor” Mary thought. Everyone was down below sleeping. So Mary went back to watching the chain rise closer to the end.

Soon with the anchor fully in she noticed the boat moving. Not being able to see who was driving the boat. Mary became nervous and started slowly walking to the steering cabin to see. When she got there no one was on site. Mary spooked now decided to go below and find John. Rushing towards the stairs, she was suddenly shoved towards the railing.

Barely able to stop herself from going over the railing, Mary looked around for her attacker. When she saw her, just before she was shot with a gun and fell over the railing. When Mary surfaced she could only watch as the boat went further away. Her arm throbbed from being shot, but she kept thinking about Jane.

Jane and John had been dating for years. Everyone thought they would be married soon, but Mary saw them argue early in the evening. She heard John say he loved someone else, but Mary couldn't hear who he had said. Jane had never liked Mary when she joined the group. Always giving her a cold shoulder.

Mary realized John must have named her and Jane wanted to get rid of her. Soon fear started to set in. She was in the middle of the ocean with no land in sight. On top of that, she wasn't wearing a life vest and was bleeding. The longer she kept her head above water the more scared she was getting.

Suddenly Mary felt something swim past her legs.
