The story of a runaway train.
By Jaden Powell
Brandon and Faith Lam had four kids named Bobby, Billy, Fiona, and Felicia. They were going to New York City for the holidays. One afternoon while they were packing up they were watching the news and heard of a deadly disease called donkeypox.
So they were packing up faster and faster so they could go ahead to New York City. The next day they were taking their luggage to the car so they could head to the train station. While on the way to the train they saw a girl stranded on the side of the road. Brandon asked the little girl “Hi. Are you ok? The little girl responded saying “Help me! Me and my parents just got into a terrible accident and I need a ride to the train station. Brandon said “get in the car. We’re on the way to the train station too.
So the little girl got into the car and Faith asked “what's your name honey? The little girl responded saying “Charlotte.” Faith responded saying “Hi Charlotte! I’m Faith and this is my husband Brandon and my kids, Bobby, Billy, Fiona, and Felicia.” Brandon asked “why were y'all going to the train station? Charlotte said “well my parents were trying to go to New York City to go see my cousin, and while we were on the road a deer jumped in the middle of the road and then we ended up hitting the deer and running into a car that was on the wrong side of the road. Faith was about to cry and she said “ oh my god! I’m sorry for your parents. Charlotte said “thank you. Brandon said “we’re heading to New York City too. Do you want us to take you with us? Charlotte started saying “ thank you, thank you, thank you! So they got to the train station and got their seats on the train. All of a sudden the train had an electrical problem and the train started moving.
The conductor tried to stop the train but couldn't stop it. Five hours later Bobby said to Faith “Mom, I'm starving. They had no food on the train so Faith said “ Don’t worry baby. I'm sure they will give us food. Nine hours passed and the conductor called the train station in New York and he said “we’re in New York but the train is on the run so I need you to turn off the power. So the man that the conductor called turned off the power and the train stopped. Faith, Brandon, Charlotte, and the kids got off the train and tried to find a cab. When they got to New York everybody they were surrounded by had donkeypox. So they had to wear quarantine suits to protect them from the disease that was spreading. Time flew by and Charlotte's suit popped and somebody touched her and she got donkey pox. Brandon rushed Charlotte to the hospital and called for a nurse.
A nurse came running in and asked “what’s wrong? Brandon said to the nurse “her quarantine suit popped and then she was touched by someone.” After spending almost two hours in the hospital Brandon was able to go and see Charlotte. The nurse said “Mr. Lam she only has 3 days to live.’’ Brandon was upset, he went into Charlotte’s hospital room and said “Hey Charlotte how are you doing?? Charlotte said weakly “Brandon. I don’t wanna die. I don’t die just yet. Brandon started crying. He thought of Charlotte as a daughter. Brandon said “ don’t worry Charlotte, we're gonna give you the best 3 days of your life. Brandon and Faith made sure Charlotte had the best first day. Brandon gave Charlotte ice cream, bought her a whole new phone, and brought her to a 5 star restaurant. The second day Faith took her to get her nails done, her hair done, and took her on a 20,000 dollar shopping spree. Time flew by and before you knew it Charlotte lasted up to 25 days of living. Charlotte died at her home after not waking up in the morning. Brandon and Faith found a way to honor her by making a memoir to remember her for the person she is.
