The Selection Process
This is for the Microfiction Magic Challenge. You can read about it in The Link. The Prompt: Write a micro-fiction story in just 50 to 100 words
There were so many applicants for the post.
I asked them how they could identify the best candidates for the job.
They looked at me and laughed.
Them: "Oh that's easy we just take twenty off the top of the pile and bin the rest. We want the lucky ones"
Me: "Isn't that illegal, or at least morally wrong?"
Them: "Yeah, but who will ever know?"

Smartphone Zombies
This had gone so wrong. The phone app was supposed to influence those that used it to buy the required products. But just like any drug, the users became addicted. They never bought anything but if anyone tried to take the phone off them they screamed attacked and bit anyone who tried. They were drawn to Milton Keynes, and non-addicts were forced to move out for their own safety. High-Level discussions took place and the only solution was the decommissioning of the app and the total extermination of the addicts. They were now smartphone zombies. They had to be eliminated.

Stuart looked at his hamburger. “Perfect, except for one detail.” He walked to the pantry, looked at the shelves for a few long moments. He sighed. “We’re out of pickles.” He sighed again. Deeper. “I hate the basement.” He looked at the door leading down to the deep, dark basement. “Fine.”

Ah man! I can completely see this happening, unfortunately. So few words to convert so much, Mike. This was a great piece!
Morals, shmorals. That word is fast becoming extinct. Their loss, the best ones were at the bottom of the pile. haha, they lose.
They will. And seeing as they seem quite pleased with how clever they are, not only do you know but I'm guessing their friends will too, & soon everyone will know how fiendishly clever they are & have little to no respect or regard for them.
