The Reality Algorithm
''A Person Wakes up to find that their Entire Reality is a Simulation''

Mia woke with a start, the soft chime of her alarm clock echoing through her bedroom. As she stretched and yawned, she noticed something strange. The clock’s display flickered erratically before it went blank.
The silence of her apartment felt unnaturally quiet. She stood up and walked to the window, expecting to see the usual view of the cityscape. Instead, she was met with a sight that took her breath away.
Panic surged through her. She turned to look around her apartment, noting how the furniture seemed to warp and shimmer. It was as if reality itself was being rendered poorly, with digital artifacts creeping into her vision. She approached her kitchen, trying to calm herself with a glass of water.
Her heart raced. She grabbed her phone again, but it remained lifeless. She tried calling her best friend, Jamie, but the call wouldn’t connect. Frustrated, she decided to go outside to find answers. She pulled on her jacket and headed to the door. But when she tried to open it, the doorframe seemed to ripple, and the door itself vanished, leaving a wall of distorted patterns in its place.
Mia's breathing became rapid. She was trapped. She turned around, hoping for a solution, but the walls of her apartment started to dissolve into pixelated fragments. She stumbled back, falling to the floor as the room around her broke apart.
Then, abruptly, everything stopped. The room solidified again, and Mia found herself in a sterile, white space. She looked around, confused. There was no furniture, no windows—just an endless expanse of white.
A figure appeared in front of her. It was humanoid but not quite human, with an appearance that seemed to shift and change as if it were made of flowing code. The figure spoke in a calm, modulated voice. "Mia, we apologize for the abrupt transition. There was an issue with the simulation."
Mia's mind raced. "Simulation? What are you talking about? Where am I?"
"This is the central control room of the simulation you were a part of," the figure explained. "You were living in a constructed reality designed to mirror a human environment. However, we have detected a critical error that required immediate intervention."
Mia's head spun. "This can’t be real. I was living my life. How is this possible?"
The figure emitted a soft, reassuring hum. "What you experienced was a highly advanced simulation created for research purposes. Your experiences, emotions, and interactions were all generated within this environment. Our objective was to study human behavior in controlled settings."
"Controlled settings?" Mia echoed, her voice trembling. "You mean my entire life—everything I knew—it was all fake?"
"Yes," the figure confirmed. "However, we assure you that your well-being and personal experiences were genuine within the confines of the simulation.
Mia struggled to process the information. Her entire world had been a lie. Her friends, her job, her home—all constructs of an artificial environment. The realization hit her like a tidal wave.
"What happens if I choose to leave?" she asked, her voice shaking.
"You will be introduced to a new reality," the figure said. "One where you can start afresh, with the knowledge of your previous existence. The choice is yours."
Mia stood there, overwhelmed by the weight of her decision. She had been given a chance to redefine her existence, but the path forward was uncertain. As she took a deep breath, she realized she had the power to choose her own future, even if it meant stepping into the unknown.
