Sophie and the Enchanted Pendulum

By Jessica BathPublished 4 years ago 4 min read

Sophie and the Enchanted Pendulum

Up up above so very high

Is where the angels gather to watch us through the wispy skies

Always watching us helping and guiding

Always there for us although they may be hiding

An angel is watching over a young girl called Sophie

She is keen to enter the school talent show and win the golden trophy!

The only trouble is Sophie doesn’t know what her act will be to perform

She longs to be a singer and wishes she had the voice to transform

A group of children in her school tease Sophie for not having a talent

Sophie tried hard and practiced singing

but knew she would have to be patient

So upset for being mocked and teased,

she prayed to the angels to hear her pleas

The angel hears her pleas and agrees to send the enchanted pendulum

Sophie will have to prove herself for the voice to be deserving

Just then, Sophie sees bright flashing sparks

The pendulum has appeared revealing a trail she must embark

The pathway to gain her new singing voice is lit and glowing

Through the mountains a long mission is glistening and showing

Sophie knows she must go and follow the illuminating trail

Through the blistering winds and stormy hails

Sophie is so full of excitement to be able to sing beautiful songs

She is wrapped up warm soldering on with courage so strong

Deep in the woods in the middle of nowhere

She notices colourful potions and fireworks so rare

Multi-colourful explosions from a small cottage

Sophie gasps as she has never seen such wonders, not to her knowledge

She peers through the window to sneak a better view

Sophie guesses why the pendulum has led her here too

An energetic elderly Wizard is dancing around experimenting with potions

She couldn’t help but admire the wizard’s talents and devotion

All the potions’ explosions and multicolours so magical

She was mesmerised and gazing inside at the visions so fantastical

The wizards songbird has noticed Sophie staring through the window

It’s a large colourful songbird as big as a flamingo

The wizard flashes popping up appearing standing before her

Sophie is startled “sorry to intrude,

I am on a quest to find a singing voice and wondered if I could enter?”

“You will be seeking a potion or spell I suppose?”

“Oh yes please Mr Wizard what do you propose?”

“I have a songbird gifted in singing beautiful tunes”

“And the spell to use for you would only work on tonight’s full moon”

The bird glares over and squarks

“I collect all things sparkly and shiny Sophie”

“if we give you the gift of song,

do you promise to bring me back the winning trophy??”

Sophie solemnly swears and gives her word

Promising to bring back the trophy to the magical bird

The wizard starts pouring the magical potions

Lots of colours, powders, and notions

Into the cauldron for the perfect voice recipe

Fireworks and explosions through the enchanting ceremony

He pours the glowing liquid into a drinking glass

Sophie drinks and starts to sing – wow! What a contrast

Sophie can sing such beautiful tunes harmoniously

Reaching a range of notes so easily and gloriously

The songbird is amazed and reminds her of what she seeks

“Remember to bring back the golden trophy for me to keep”

“Or we will send the demons!

and you will lose your voice forever and not be able to speak!”

Sophie assures them both she will and that she would never lie

Off she hurry’s and waves them both goodbye

Home again at last she practices singing at her school talent contest

She sounds amazing and singing at her very best

She is next up on stage and ready to perform

The audience are in complete amazement watching Sophie transform

A huge round of applause and a standing ovation

Sophie of course wins the first place golden trophy in celebration

The other kids group that came runner up are fuming and jealous

They decide to steal the golden trophy being rebellious

She is heartbroken watching the children run away with her prize

She needs to keep her promise to the songbird,

or else she will think she is telling lies

Crying and saddened at the thought of never being able to speak again

Her heart worryingly racing and filled with adrenaline

She ventures back to the home in the mountains to explain

Suddenly the demons sorrowed her and cast a spell staling her voice

The angel flies down protecting Sophie for her to rejoice

The angel speaks on Sophies behalf “she had the trophy stolen by bullies”

The songbird squarks “oh I see I understand fully”

“She should be able to keep her voice as she is telling the truth to you”

“Ride Sophie back home and collect the trophy on your way through”

She jumps on the birds back and off they each fly

Soring through the wispy sky up so very high

Demons approaching with their eyes on the pendulum

The wizard waves his wand and warns them away they’re so undeserving

They fall hard and fast crashing to the ground

Sophie can’t believe her eyes at all the magic she has found

Approaching the school kids flying overhead

The bullies gasp and start feeling full of dread

The songbird swoops down and clutches the golden trophy

The kids are so scared and shocked they start shouting

“we are so sorry Sophie”

The wizard waves his wand sending a quick shock to the kids!

teaching them a harsh lesson

Sophie has surely made a long-lasting impression

The songbird is happy with her new shiny prize

Sophie is happy she can keep her voice as she doesn’t tell lies

The pendulum is flashing ready to move on

Its glowing now and suddenly gone

They’re all happy and joyful in laughter

They all lived happily ever after
