One cold autumn night, I walked through the woods to the cave I like to go to and think. While I was walking, this white blur flew by my head, and I screamed, not knowing what was flying over my head. I ducked down. I couldn’t see what had passed by me when I looked around. I thought that maybe it was my imagination getting the better of me.
When I started walking again, I saw it again but further ahead. SO, I decided to be like everyone in those horror movies that run towards danger. I followed whatever it was that was trying to lead me somewhere. The woods following the mysterious thing were so thick and hard to get through. When I finally came out into a clearing, there was the most beautiful white owl I had ever seen. I had never seen a night owl before except in movies and national geographic, but it was amazing.
This owl brought me to a cave that I had no idea was even out here. When I went inside, the owl followed me in and when I turned around to look at the bird, what I saw made me think I had lost my marbles. There was a man that looked like a Greek god standing there. I stood there with my mouth opening and closing like a fish, and he smiled the most devilish smile and said, “Hi. I’m Demetrie. What’s your name?”
I think I fainted because I was lying on the most comfortable bed I have ever been on when I opened my eyes. Demetrie was dressed this time. He was sitting in a chair next to the bed with a book in his hand. When he felt me looking at him, he handed me a glass of water and asked if I was OK. I shook my head and asked him if what I saw earlier was real, and he smiled and nodded.
Demetrie asked my name again, and I told him Rhea. “Why and how are you even real? I mean, I get that anything is possible obviously, but how?” That was all I could manage to get out during my freak-out moment. I read fantasy books but was not expecting them to be real. Of course, leave it to the amazingly gorgeous man to laugh at me. “Rhea, I have been following you in the woods for weeks because I am drawn to you. I think there is a reason I have this mysterious pull to you. I need you for something; I just don’t know what yet.” I was shocked by the revelation. It got me thinking that my life is so dull, and no one would miss me if I were gone; maybe I could stay here with Demetrie and figure out what he needs me for, and I would love to be wanted, he is offering me that and more.
“Demetrie? What if I stayed here with you, and we could figure this out together. I have been drawn to these woods for months, and maybe you are the reason why. Trust me, and no one will miss me if I leave.” He thought about it for a moment and then nodded his head yes. So here we are now, about to go on a mysterious journey together-me the unwanted Rhea and Him, the mysterious man who turns into a night owl. There is no telling where we will end up, but I am anxious to find out where these unimaginable men will take me and what he will give me at the end of our mysterious journey of discovery.
