The Meeting of Poets
Micro-fiction
"Welcome to the 17th annual meeting of Poets," the MC said.
The meeting, as always, was a florid affair with dictionary confetti filling the air; quills scratching on paper, devil may care.
For the entire meet, nary a word was spoken, almost as if their tongues were broken.
For the pen is their voice, for some not a choice, and besides, there’s too much distraction with lots of noise.
The poet prefers an internal life, searching for meaning amidst the strife.
When the creativity deflated, the meeting abated, and then the MC stated:
"Same time next year?"

The Lady in the Window
I first noticed her in a store window. I was out picking up some bits of food shopping and, as always, my eye was constantly drawn to the colourful shop fronts around me. I happened a glance across the road at a ladies fashion store; not that I need such things what with being an established bachelor, but it was a colourful display and quite pleasing. At first, I assumed her to be a mannequin; a part of the window dressing, but as my eye lingered I realised she didn’t seem to fit. She was…how best to describe this to you: out of focus. Yes, like a camera image that is out of focus. I could make out her shape; enough so that I immediately recognised her as feminine; but abstract, like a surrealist painting where one recognises images but finds it hard to explain how.

If You Love Me, You'll Do It
I met Jason when I was five years old. I could say that I loved him from the moment I saw him. He was so handsome to me and I felt in awe by his presence. When they introduced him as the new kid in school, I wanted to be his friend right away. I remember it like it was yesterday. I remember his smile and how he didn't seem shy. He appeared confident and ready to learn. I waved at him and said "hello," before anyone else could even say a word. He sat next to me, and I asked him if he wanted to be friends. He looked so happy as he said, "Yes!"

'20/20'
"Do It Again" the track that would ultimately open the Beach Boys final album on Capitol Records which was released on February 10th 1969 had originally been released as a single in August of 1968. The track was the first of many post-Pet Sounds era throwbacks to the early Beach Boys sound which would become continually more cliched and eventually lead the Beach Boys to the level of self-parody they would eventually succumb to in the 1980s while their closest contemporaries The Beatles nearing the end of their run in 1969 would go on to be viewed as the most influential band of all time. However, the song itself is not bad on its surface, and it opens with a futuristic sounding (for 1969) drumbeat captured by then-Beach Boys engineer Stephen Desper using tape delays on the drums performed by Dennis Wilson and John Guerin. The song has been re-recorded numerous times over the years on various Beach Boys-related projects most notably the 2011 re-recording at Capitol studios featuring the five surviving Beach Boys at the time backed instrumentally by various members of both the Brian Wilson Band and Mike Loves touring "Beach Boys" to promote the then upcoming Beach Boys 50th Anniversary reunion tour in 2012. The hammering and power drill sound at the end of the song was an excerpt from a track called "Workshop" that was to be a part of the uncompleted "SMiLE" album.
