The Marigold Fields
Energy Twister

“Tell me a story about your sister, Zelimir,” Laylan asked me.
“Are you sure?” I asked. I thought about it for a moment before I began. In my mind, I went back to the beginning.

“Catch me, Zemir,” I can hear Nevy calling to me from the Marigold fields. A smile crosses my face at the sound of her voice. I take off through the village and into the fields. As I run, I can see the pollen of the Marigolds floating to the heavens. The sweet smell ofthe flowers tickle my senses as the thrill of the chase begins pounding in my ears. I hear her giggle in the distance and know that I am getting closer to her. I can feel her energy in the air around me and I follow the hidden trail being left by her. I take it in as I run after her and before long, I am filling to the brim with her energy.
I can feel the buzzing in my ears as the energy continues to build, it feels like a thousand bees swarming me, like the flutter of thousands of tiny wings. It hits me like waves of energy filling me until all I can feel the static that is about to overload my senses. I begin to feel light-headed and my vision begins to spin as I stop in the middle of the marigolds. I look around and realize that the world around me seems to have stopped in place. The Marigold petals and pollen float in the air, moving slowly as if suspended in time. I fall to the soft ground of the meadow and begin sending the excess energy to the ground beneath me. The buzzing slows and subsides as the energy rushes out of me and into the earth.
“Zemir? Are you alright?” I hear Nevy’s sweet voice asking and I open my eyes to see her standing above me. I can see the concern on my sister’s face.
“Yes, come here,” I call to her and raise my hand to her. She sits beside me and looks into my eyes. The wind blows around us and her hair moves into her face. I reach over and tuck her dark blond hair behind her ear. “I want to show you something,” I explain to her. She nods and moves in front of me as I hoist myself up to face her.
I take her hands as we sit in the middle of our marigold fields. They had always been our fields, this is where we feel the most alive, the most free. We touch our knees to each other and close our eyes as we begin grounding ourselves.
I can feel her energy waft over me like a wave in the sea. I circle it around inside of myself and send it back into her hand. I begin to feel a whirlwind of energy flurrying between us. It begins to swirl and twirl within us faster and faster as the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end. It feels like a twister is forming above us and I can feel the wind blowing around us. I can feel myself lifting from the ground in a weightlessness that is unbelievable and powerful.
Suddenly, we hear a hundred thunderclaps happen all at once. Even behind my closed eyelids, it is bright and oh, so loud, it hurts my ears, and we both yell in shock but I know that we can not break our connection until we dismiss the energy that we have accumulated. I keep my eyes closed and begin to dismantle the twister of energy that is still spinning above us both. And as it dissipates around us, I see visions in the swirling light.
I see visions of five warriors standing together, an elf, a dwarf, a griffin, a woman with fins on her arms, and me. I see a woman with long, white hair, her eyes are green and blue. There is a unicorn, a brilliant white unicorn. Flashes of blood invade my sight and I catch a glimpse of Nevena, blood running down her chin. Then there are roses, red roses, pink roses, white roses, yellow roses and red hair with green eyes.
Then everything is gone! The visions, the whirlwind, the energy. All I can hear are the sounds of everyone in the village running to us asking what happened, but we can not explain it. It was magick!
“Zelimir, Nevena, what did you do?” My mother is nearly yelling at us.
“I do not know, Mother,” I try to explain but her face is full of anger and fear. She grabs us by the tops of our arms, and she begins dragging us back toward our cottage.
Once, we are back at our cottage, my mother begins asking us what happened, but we can not really explain what it was that did happen. I try to explain what I felt though I did not tell her of the visions. I know that they are visions of a possible future, but I do not know any more than that.
“You created a twister of energy?!” my mother exclaims when I am done explaining what we experienced.
“Yes, Ma’am,” I answer quietly. Then she does not say another word, but she dismisses us to our room.
“Did we do something wrong, Zemir?” Nevena asks me tentatively.
“I do not know,” I answer.
