The Hollow Box (Part-9)

The Truth Beneath

By StoryTimePublished 9 months ago 1 min read
A final message from the past. A father’s secret. And the beginning of the end.

Episode 9 – “The Truth Beneath”

Lara sits by the window, holding their mother’s journal. Lana flips through an old family album. A torn photo falls out — a younger version of their mother and father, smiling in front of the hospital.

Lana (softly): “He was one of them… wasn’t he?”

Lara nods, and they begin connecting the dots. The journal’s final pages lead them to the east wing’s sealed lower levels — once rumored to be a fallout shelter during wartime.

They break into the old wing with the help of Iris. Through a corroded metal door, they find a hidden laboratory. Cobweb-covered files, test tubes, and a terminal still glowing dimly on backup power.

In the middle of the lab: a locked drawer. Inside — a flash drive.

They watch the drive on the laboratory monitor. A video begins. It is their father, Dr. Adrian Clark.

Dr. Clark (on video): If this recording is playing… I didn't make it out. My research was never meant to be used this way. Iris… she was supposed to be saved, not sold.

He clarifies everything:

The hospital's owner turned the Order of Nox from a medical ethics organization into a sinister, profit-driven organization.

Iris was created by Adrian to aid in the treatment of genetic diseases, but the hospital owner intended to use her powers as a weapon.

Adrian was removed and the cover-up started when he refused.

The girls start crying because all of their fears came true.

Lana: "They took his life. Then they also killed her.

They understand that this must stop and that the truth must be revealed.

“How would you feel discovering your father died protecting a truth the world was never meant to see?”
