The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. Somewhere, hidden in the blue tides and surrounded by the creatures of the ocean is a small deserted island. The island was once covered in cared for greenery and beautiful buildings. It was filled with people and joy. But then, as time passed, the people started to earn less and less. The island was so hidden from the rest of the world that they stopped receiving money from their sources. Shops stopped getting money because no one was able to pay for anything and food was running out. The people had lost all hope. Then, years later, the island met Ayuna.

Ayuna was the first person to ever find the island. She found it with a plane that her family owned. Her parents were very rich and she had a job as an actor. When she heard that the island had no money, Ayuna decided she was going to share. She moved into the town and became the community’s new fund source. She also helped the town by sewing clothes and knitting blankets since they were also running low on materials. Since Ayuna was one of the only people on the island to know how to sew, she volunteered to help. After a week had passed, Ayuna was ready to return home.

The town was sad to see her leave, but Ayuna promised she’d visit again soon. However, when Ayuna returned to the beach, her plane was washed up by the shore and sank to the bottom of the ocean. When Ayuna saw that her plane had sunk, she realized that she was completely stranded on this island. She was panicking and she couldn't think of anything to do. She wondered how she would get back home to Japan with her family.

When people on the island heard about Ayuna’s problem, they started to comfort her and gave her reassurance. They told her that she’d figure out a solution. Ayuna couldn't believe that. She was in tears worrying about her family she had left behind and herself. She had no idea of how she would leave the island. Since that day, Ayuna stopped communicating with the rest of the town. She hid in a small house she found out in the woods that was at the other end of the island, surrounded by the trees and overgrown nature. Ayuna used her surroundings to make the old, run down cabin to be larger and less outdated. Once she had finished, she settled into her new home.

She stayed in her house for months. Not a single person had seen a trace of her. After a while, the people of the town gave up looking for her and continued their simple lives until she decided to return.

For two years, Ayuna had rationed the rest of her money she had and avoided any type of socialization. She only left the cabin when it was absolutely necessary. For example, to buy more food or material to make clothes. Even then, Ayuna minimized how much she talked to others.

One day however, Ayuna was completely out of food. Ayuna had to walk back into town and stock up on as much food as she could. When she arrived into town, she realized that the plaza was almost completely empty. Something was out of the ordinary but Ayuna was in too much of a rush, she didn’t pay any attention to it. She swung the store doors open to find there was no food left to eat. All of the shelves were empty. It looked as if everything was sold out.

Ayuna went back outside to find someone who could maybe help her with the problem that had occurred but the plaza was completely empty. She went knocking door to door to see if there was a single person who could share the slightest bit of food with her, but the town was overtaken by despair. Everyone had lost hope once again.

But later that day, from the deepest part of the woods, a joyful and spirited voice awoke everyone from their trance. “People of the town!” She said, “Follow me to the most spectacular live show you’ve ever seen, along with a great feast!”

The voice from the trees led the curious villagers through the woods to the front of a large cabin. Everyone gathered around her looking at their surroundings. “I must say a few things before we get into our show. You must know that everything you see inside is all a part of the play.” A villager raised their hand, “Yes?” The villagers looked at their comrades “...There is going to be food… correct?” Ayuna let out a soft chuckle “Well of course, what kind of host would I be without something so important?”

Ayuna went over the rules making sure everyone understands. For example, making sure to not touch the actors or anyone else either. Shortly after that, they headed inside. Ayuna told everyone to take a seat at one of the many rows of chairs there were near the front of the stage. Once everyone was seated, the show had begun.

Every citizen of the town was mesmerized by the play. Throughout the story, Ayuna would recruit people scattered in the audience to join in but each of them were unnoticeably escorted backstage.

At the end of the play, all the citizens gave Ayuna a round of applause and she led them to where they would feast. Everyone was handed a steak with a side of salad then sat down at one of three long dinner tables. The citizens were so relieved that Ayuna had returned and that she had once again helped them during a time of need. However, people started to notice something was wrong. There were about 4 people who had gone missing, each from a different family. Nobody had really thought too much about it other than the families themselves. Worried, they would ask their peers if there was any sight of their missing family members. The answers were always negative.

Ayuna continued these events every two months. She’d appear from the woods and perform a new play inside of the cabin, they would feast, and everytime more people would go missing. The villagers started to get suspicions that it was connected somehow, so after the fifth or sixth performance, less and less people showed up.

Years after that, Ayuna had passed away. One of the citizens had reported the strange disappearances over the years and an investigator was sent to inspect the cabin to see what might’ve happened to all the missing people. The investigator discovered that Ayuna had been snatching people out of the audience of her performances, took them backstage, then cooked them and served their flesh to the remaining citizens in the audience. They also found a hidden room in the cabin that was covered wall to wall in wooden, hand carved, creepy dolls labeled by the name of the people that were killed. Those people were buried behind the cabin so Ayuna could hide the evidence.

Once the investigator reported this to the people of the town, everyone turned against her. The town despised Ayuna and decided to erase her entirely from their town’s history. However, one person on that entire island still adored Ayuna with all her heart. Her name was Margaret. Margaret adored Ayuna because she said that Ayuna would do anything to help the town when in need. She decided to travel to the old abandoned cabin. She lit a candle and created a chant. Margaret had created a chant to summon her spirit. She summoned Ayuna’s spirit to change the ways of the rest of the citizens so they worship her as well.

That night, the town had gone mad. Chaos took over the bodies of every villager. Day after day people were cooked and eaten and with every meal they lost more and more of their humanity. Nothing could ever bring them back

Legend says Ayuna's spirit still possesses the people and haunts the town to this day. So if you ever find a small, deserted island out in the middle of the ocean, don’t stick around to find out what happens next.
