The heart of a dragon

So many years ago, at a time that things were very different, lived a grown dragon in the middle of the forest. It was one special dragon with so much beauty that one could ever imagine. He was at least 30 feet tall. Thanks to the presence of the dragon in the forest, there was a beautiful green light that appeared every night. The light was so powerful that one could see it even from a very long distance. That dragon had some special powers which even added so much more beauty to him. But what would a dragon do if he met a human? Could a dragon ever be emotional? Did the dragon in that forest have beauty inside of him?

The dragon, after so many years was used to life alone until one day during the nighttime while he was contemplating the beauty of the forest, he noticed that there was a beautiful girl sitting near a tree in the middle of the forest. The girl was at least three years old. She had so much hair with beautiful green eyes. With a symmetrical face and a cute small nose, she looked like an extraordinary human being. Her green eyes matched the light that was already present in the forest. But why green eyes? Why not blue or brown? Is it because the girl and the dragon knew each other in a previous life? Was it just a coincidence? The dragon had so many questions. He asked himself:” Who is that beautiful girl? Why is it happening now? What should I do? He was confused and didn’t have answers to the questions he had. But one thing the dragon did realize is that it was the first time he had emotions. He couldn’t move. It was like if he was hypnotized and at the same time, it was like if the dragon had a heart for many years and didn’t realize it. He got scared as his heart started beating so fast. Then he asked himself what exactly was happening to him.

He couldn’t stop staring at the girl in front of him. He liked the girl without knowing the real reason behind it. He even had a smile on his face. That night he did approach the girl and invoked his powers so he could feed her. The girl wasn’t scared of him. Was it because of his kindness? Did she find him fascinating? Maybe it was just a coincidence. The dragon found a safe place for the girl to sleep. But he was thinking about what he should do the next day. The strange thing is that the dragon was mean before he met that girl. It was as if the demon inside of him suddenly disappeared. Before the arrival of the girl, the animals in the forest always found a place to hide before he showed up. Even though he had so much power to provide some food for himself, he never spared any animal he saw because he wanted to be the only one living in the forest. The thought of caring for someone or a living thing never crossed his mind.

The next day, the dragon woke up before the girl. He was just watching her still asleep. He just couldn’t accept the fact that he had feelings. He was about to step out when he thought that it could be dangerous for the girl to stay alone. He did something he never thought he would one day. With his powers, he did build a place so that she would feel comfortable. It was the nicest place that has ever existed. The dragon filled the house with so many flowers. Red, white, pink and with different aromas. Different types of light were present in the house. But a green light was the color that stood out the most. There were unlimited number of rooms with different shapes and sizes. The rooftop was covered with beautiful white fur and with the reflection of the lights in the house, it looked so incredible.

There were so many big bubbles in the whole house but the most amazing thing is that the bubbles were the doors to other amazing worlds. The dragon thought that he wouldn’t be able to teach great things to the girl so he had a thought to allow the little girl to see other dimensions and learn few things. But why bubbles? Is it because it meant something important to the dragon?

Is it because it was the first thing that came in his mind?

Or was it because he thought that it would make the girl happy?

But I have myself so many questions. Is it destiny the fact that the dragon had to meet the girl?

Is it because some change was needed?

The days were passing by and the girl was asking so many questions because everything that was happening around her was new. But wasn’t it too early for the girl to understand everything?

Just like any good father would have done, the dragon tried his best to always find answers to the girl. Of course, he wasn’t able to find an answer to every question but he tried every time. The heart of the dragon kept getting softer every single day. He wasn’t able to recognize himself. Some nights, the dragon that used to be so mean cried because of the love he felt for the girl. But he was scared as he thought he would lose his powers because of the feelings that were growing in his heart. At night, he stayed home to read a story to the girl. After one year of living with the girl, the dragon thought that the girl was ready to see other worlds. It was his way of showing compassion.

Every day after seven at night, the dragon bought the girl to a new world. It was very exiting and the girl wanted to spend more time in the other worlds than in the house. Feeling like he had a responsibility for the girl, he just allowed the girl to visit for few minutes. He wanted to be sure that the girl was really ready before letting her spend more time. But after few months, the dragon and the girl were spending less and less time at home as they enjoyed seeing other worlds. One day, the dragon and the girl went to a new world but little did the dragon know that it was dangerous.

He usually used his powers to check everything beforehand but his emotions got the best of him and he wasn’t careful. The girl was in danger as there was a very dangerous monster in that world. The girl was very hurt and luckily the dragon was able to bring her back home. The dragon was deeply hurt as he thought he would lose the girl. It took the dragon few days to get the girl to be completely healed. Since that day the dragon put a pause to their different adventures.

Because of what happened, the dragon got very sick. The feelings he had were too overwhelming for him. But he still made sure the girl had something to eat every day. The girl was very worried. She loved him very much just like a father. The girl didn’t know what could possibly do to make him feel better. One day she hugged him as he fell asleep. Something changed when the dragon woke up. He was not sick anymore so he had some questions. He didn’t understand what happened. Full of joy he told the girl that it’s really weird because he’s feeling ok but he didn’t really take any medicine. Then the girl said that she just gave him a hug when he was sleeping. For the first time he hugged the girl. He couldn’t hide how happy he was.

Every day since then, the dragon hugged the girl every day to show her how much he loved her. The love between them became stronger with time. The dragon never took the bubbles down but blocked the access to the different worlds. He just kept them as decoration. The dragon was just scared that if he didn’t close the access to the other worlds the girl would make the mistake and go to a dangerous place by herself. One thing that was sure was that the dragon always protected the girl. The girl grew up so quickly. The girl was already ten years old.

She got tired of always staying home even though she knew that the dragon was just trying to protect her. The girl wanted to go to other places but the dragon wouldn’t give her permission as he thought that she was still very young. As the days were passing by, the girl started to get sad as she wasn’t able to understand why she couldn’t go out.

To make the girl feel better, the dragon created some games using his powers. The games were so interesting that it caught the girl’s attention. Since the dragon created those games, he and the girl both spent their days playing. They were both so happy. Most of the time, the dragon would let the girl win just to see her happy. Even though the dragon was happy thanks to the girl’s presence, he started feeling a certain way as he was having some emotions and an idea came in his mind. He felt sad and thought that if he allowed the animals in the forest to join him and the girl in their house , there will be more fun and more happiness. He wanted the girl to have enough fun in her life while growing up.

But at the same time, he was scared as he didn’t know how things would go because of how mean he was to the animals in the forest. In the end, his love for the girl was bigger than his fear. But what was even more beautiful was the fact that the dragon always asked the opinion of the girl about the things he planned to do. He asked the girl what she thought about having some friends in the house. The little girl was so excited to hear that. She kept dancing before she even gave an answer. She told the dragon that she would be more than happy to have some friends as they’ll be able to play more games together. After few days, the dragon added many more rooms in the house as there were so many animals living in the forest. He took his time to decorate every room and even added some furniture.

He wanted the animals to feel comfortable and wanted them to have enough room for themselves. But he also wanted to show them that he has changed a lot. One day, he called all the animals to have a conversation but the animals were too scared as they thought that they were going to be killed. But one of the animals convinced the others to hear what the dragon had to say. It was the lion. He was able to convince all the animals and they decided to come to the dragon’s meeting. The lion was a little convinced that the dragon had a change of heart as he learned that he was raising a little girl he found in the middle of the forest and it was something the dragon would have never done in the past.

All the animals then decided to give him the benefit of the doubt. They all went to the meeting to listen to the dragon. After they heard that the dragon wanted them to live with him, they were so surprised.

They didn’t hesitate to say yes. They all lived together since then, doing all kind of activities with the little girl. Everything was going well until one day, the tiger tried to harm the little girl. The dragon was so furious that he wanted to kill the tiger but remembered that he didn’t want the girl to be raised in a violent environment. He just asked the tiger to leave the house. None of the animals dared to stop the dragon as they knew that what the tiger did was wrong.

The girl was feeling sad but deep down she knew that the dragon made the right decision the protect her. She knew that it was the only way she would be safe in the house. One day the girl wanted to have a party. The dragon organized everything without telling the girl so that he could surprise her. When the girl woke up she was so happy that she couldn’t hide her excitement. She started crying and the dragon thought that he did something wrong. Then the girl said with so much happiness:” I’m crying because I’m overly happy. I’m even happier because I have you in my life. I love you so much. The biggest surprise was that the dragon started crying when he heard the words of the little girl. He didn’t know that the girl loved him that much.

The party didn’t finish until after two days. The girl, the dragon and the animals were all dancing together as one beautiful family. The dragon got the prettiest dress one has ever seen for the girl. He even got some matching shoes. No words could explain how happy the girl was. But what was amazing was that the girl knew that no matter what happened he would have the dragon to protect her and care for her. There was so much food that the girl didn’t know what to eat. The dragon, prepared some gifts for the girl. She got new dresses, shoes and even got a complete makeover of her room. After two days of fun, the party was finally over. One day, after looking at the mirror, the dragon found out that he had some grey hair. He started panicking. He couldn’t explain his fear. That day he didn’t eat anything. He stayed in his room the whole day.

The truth is that the dragon thought that it was almost time for him to die as he didn’t have any grey hair before. He was scared to die and leave the girl alone. Even though there were many animals living in the house, he still thought that he would take better care of the girl. The girl got worried as she didn’t see the dragon out of his room the whole day. She then decided to go and ask him what was happening. But the dragon didn’t want the girl to know why he was worried. So, he just told the girl he needed some rest but he was fine. The girl was very smart even with her young age. She knew that the dragon was hiding something but she thought that the dragon had a good reason for not telling her the truth. After few days, the dragon told himself that he would enjoy his life with the person he loved the most and stop worrying.

That person was the little girl. Every single day, the dragon took some time to teach the girl few things about the world so that she’ll grow up to be wise and very mature. But one thing was that the dragon was himself very smart even though he didn’t recognize that about himself. But the girl was growing up fast. She did grow up being a very happy and wise girl. But the most beautiful thing about her was her kindness that she learned from the dragon.

At her eighteen birthday, the girl got a magic pen as a gift from the dragon. With that pen, the girl could write anything in her notebook to communicate with the dragon no matter how far she was. The dragon gave this pen to the girl because few days before her birthday, she told the dragon that as she was going to be eighteen she would like to go out sometimes alone to learn things by herself. The dragon wanted to give to the girl her freedom but at the same time be there for her when she needed him. One day the girl went to a different world and found out that some people were sick.

That’s when she used the pen the dragon gave her for her birthday to ask the dragon what to do to save those people. With the dragon’s advice, the girl was able the save the people.

She was so happy and then she realized that there was nothing else she wanted to do in her life but to save people and other living things. The girl wanted the dragon to keep her company when she goes out as she got really attached to the dragon. And if there was one thing that could always make the dragon happy, it was to spend his days with the girl, so he couldn’t be happier. At the same time, the dragon changed a lot and loved humans and living things since the girl came in his life. So, the girl’s decision was the best thing that happened to him. Since a decision was made, the dragon and the girl traveled into different worlds to save people and animals. The girl and the dragon then spent their days together and remained forever happy.

Love is more powerful than anything else in this world. Love is what gives to someone the power to do great things in life and makes everything possible. The love that the dragon had for the little girl is what changed him and made him see things in a new light. Love can soften anyone’s heart. Shouldn’t love overshadow our world instead of hate? Shouldn’t our world be full of light and not darkness? Just like the dragon in this story, shouldn’t we all help each other instead of causing pain for no reason?
