THE GIFTED CURSE

From the moment she was born, she was different. Her parents knew it, their neighbors knew it, and even the doctors couldn't quite put their fingers on what made her unique. At first, it was small things, like how she never cried as a baby, even when she was hungry or tired. Her parents thought it was a blessing, but they soon realized that it was something more unusual than they had initially thought. As she grew older, her quirks became more pronounced. She would always know when someone was lying, and she could sense their emotions from a distance. People called her strange and avoided her, which made her loneliness more pronounced.

The girl, who'd never been given a name other than "that odd girl," couldn't help but feel like she was living in a bubble. She knew that there was more to her than the outside world recognized, but she didn't know what that was. When she turned thirteen, she began to notice that she had a power, one that no one else could understand. When she was angry, her hands would suddenly turn into small balls of light. She didn't know what to do with her powers, and that scared her.

She tried to tell her parents, but they didn't believe her. They thought that her imagination had simply run wild. Despite her attempts, she didn't have any support. Animosity and confusion continued to build within her, and she became convinced that something was wrong with her. She prayed nightly that she could be normal and fit in, but this never came to pass. She considered running away, but she realized that the world would only become crueller.

One day, when she was out wandering in the woods, she saw a bird that was injured. As she went to help, her hands turned into balls of light, and she realized that was what her power was for. She realized that she could heal the bird. With a simple touch, the light spread through the bird, and soon he was flying off into the air, his wings restored. She was amazed by what she could do and couldn't wait to share this newfound experience with her friends and family.

Unfortunately, when she informed her parents, they were terrified. They couldn't understand how their daughter had gained such a power. They were convinced that she was cursed and demanded that she suppress her powers. They forbade her from using them and over time their disdain began to estrange her.

The ostracism she faced soon became too much to bear. She ceased to have any real relationship with her parents and withdrew almost completely from the world outside. Her classmates whispered behind her back, and she soon quit school. Through her isolation, she worked on her powers and saw them flourish. There were so many aspects of it that she had never imagined. She could control her telekinetic powers to perform multiple tasks, and her healing power seemed to strengthen. However, every time she even considered expressing her gift to the world, her family's judgement echoed in her mind.

One summer evening, whilst she was laying under the stars, her powers erupted within her. She was astounded as she found herself teleported under a full moon to an entirely different universe. While she hoped to discover a world where she could feel at home, she instead found herself in a different scenario. The people here were just as afraid as those she’d grown up around and were rejecting her powers altogether. Even here, she couldn't find peace.

The odd girl's emotional upheaval had become too great for her to overcome. With her powers expanding and society continuing to reject her, she couldn't take it anymore. It was as if all of her emotions bled into each other. The joy she felt with her powers was mixed with the confusion and anxiety that her family imposed, each unable to separate from the other. As she stood by the edge of a cliff, looking down at the city below, she reveled in the beauty of her power one last time.

She extended her hands and let the energy flow through her. She marveled at how warm the light felt and how it washed over her. In the end, it was like nothing she had ever experienced before. But then, in the bittersweet moment, it consumed her, and she faded away into the night.

The odd girl with unknown powers had gone to join the universe she’d longed for and would never have to hide who she was again.
