*********************************************

The streets of Chinatown shimmered with the promise of prosperity-the red glow of lanterns and strings of golden lights, all heralding good fortune for the year. it was the eve of the Lunar New Year, and the city pulsed with life, though the crowds had long since dispersed. Proprietors had left offerings of coins at shopfronts to beckon good fortune for the year ahead. But, unnoticed by human eyes, Jinlong the golden-scaled dragon stirred. The majestic head of his intricately-woven costume radiated with a faint glow as he jumped lightly off the ceremonial platform, his tassels swaying with life. He arose to perform his sacred duty each year- collecting offerings and weaving prosperity into the new year.

As Jinlong prowled Chinatown's largely silent streets, his sharp eyes detected movement. A crouched figure, a broom in hand, hovered by an offering bowl placed outside a confectionery. Mr. Loong, the street sweeper, swiped a handful of coins with deft hands. He cast a furtive glance at the empty street and grasped his prize, mumbling "Qing ning yuan liang,wo hui huan zai (please forgive me, I'll repay my debt)."

Jinlong's eyes ignited and his long lashes pierced Mr. Loong unmistakeable fury. With a forceful, yet greaceful leap, he landed in front of the old man. Mr. Loong stumbled back, dropping the coins as the lion lowered its head. The exquisite creature released a warm, glimmering breath that came with the faint scent of insence.

"You dare claim what's not yours?" The lion's roar was at once a growl and a song, resonating through Chinatown's quiet streets.

Mr. Loong's hands trembled. "I'm...I'm sorry." He stammered. "I'm...hungry. These coins could feed me for weeks!"

The golden aura around Jinlong's mane left Mr. Loong's mouth wide open. "Fortune is earned, not taken. But I sense your desperation."

He nudged the coins with his nose. "Take them, but understand this. Each time you use one, you must do a good deed for another person. Only then will you understand what prosperity implies.

Mr. Loong gathered the coins reluctantly. The lion vanished, leaving him with the heavy weight of its words on its chest.

Days turned into months, and the lion's wisdom never left Mr. Loong's mind. But a desperate act sparked a magical bargain. Each time he shared a bowl of noodles with someone less fortunate than himself, there were two bowls. Loaves of bread multiplied when he shared them.A single coin given to a poor beggar returned tenfold. The coins increased, but only when used for the good of all.

Mr. Loong's turned in the direction he wanted. He fed the hungry, fixed the broken relationship fences and even started a garden - with his community. As his friendship circles grew, the once lonely sweeper found himself a beacon - and recipient - of warmth and gratitude.

The beat of lion dance drums resonated through the streets the next New Year's Eve. Mr. Loong placed a little offering bowl outside his door. It was filled not with coins but with scraps of paper bearing neighbours' good wishes.

The festivities came to a joyous close, and Jinlong appeared in front of the old man once again. "You have been a good disciple," his voice was a low growl. True wealth is measured in shared prosperity. You gave others fortune, and it multiplied for you."

Mr. Loong bowed, tears welling in his eyes. He had danced with prosperity, and it wasn't over yet.
