Talia Norwel & The Fields Of Elysium
Written by Dakota Scott
[Episode 2]
Talia stood to her feet, looking to the vast green fields before her. Bright golden Marigolds in every direction. Before her stood a man beckoning. A man she had seen before, though not in person but in a photograph
"Mr. Mortmyr?"
"Come child, you are safe now"
"Its Talia.. Where are we?"
"Welcome to Elysium, Talia, better make yourself comfortable..you'll be here for awhile"
"Elysium?"
The old man smiled. Talia looked on, puzzled at this strange yet beauteous land. Children played in the distant fields. Amongst the three, two of their faces familiar, that of Kate Thompson and Wesley Phillips.
"I don't understand. I was in your home, investigating their disappearance. And.."
"You happened upon the box, wrapped in brown paper?"
"..yeah. how did you.."
"Elysium is the land between the living and eternity. Here we wait for our final verdict, content without need of fear of nourishment. That box is a gateway into Elysium from your world. An unnatural abomination. It's how those two got here, how Ryan got here, and now you. It's a one way Ticket."
"Ryan.. Ryan Alec. So he did escape the lamia? Apologies Mr. Mortmyr, but did you know of your wife Evelyn"
"Yeah I knew. She may have been a lamia, but she was also my Evelyn. When I passed, and came here to Elysium. She lived on, protecting the manor. I don't approve of what she did, how many she hurt. She was terrified.. I know its no excuse, but thats all she knew. All she had left."
"I'm sorry for your loss, Mr. Mortmyr.. You mentioned the box was a gateway. Are their others, that connect back?"
"There is one that I know of, in the bark the of the old pear tree to the east. A rift to the world of the living."
"No ones tried?"
"The dead can not return to the world of the living. Only those with a soul may enter through the gateway. Many have tried. Many have failed"
"I have a soul, I'll take the children return them home"
"I'm afraid that's not possible. This gateways, unlike the box. It's one person, one way. Once you enter. It will seal for eternity."
"I will bring them home, Mr. Mortmyr"
"We're already gone, Talia."
Reluctant in her endeavor, Talia started east. She walked 'till her feet ached, stopping only to catch her breathe. Her mind raced with every step. The sight of the endless fields never fading from her view. Hours passed, yet the sun never fell. Her feet like broken glass, upon the opulent Fields.
She continued until she stood before a large pear tree, teeming with lavish leaves and tender fruit. She reached gently grazing it's rough and rugged bark. Making her way to the otherside. A large pearlescent rift, etched into the side of an otherwise stable tree.
"Here goes nothing"
She stepped to the gateway. Soothing lights washed over her, as the vast meadows of Elysium became the murky outskirts of Parksville. She reached to her pocket, grabbing her phone, and dialing Mr. Lorek
"Ms. Norwel… Ms. Norwel is that you"
"Yes Mr. Lorek. I am home"
" 'Bout Bloody time. Thought I lost you Ms. Norwel..Its been months..What did you find?"
"The kids are in Elysium. Kate, Ryan, and Wesley"
"Elysium.. as in the Elysian Fields"
"The one and same Mr. Lorek"
"And what of Mr. Mortmyr, the lamia do him in?"
"No, though your initial presumptions were correct, Mr. Lorek. The lamia attacked and killed anything that came near the manor, up til Ryan Alec."
"A most peculiar case, Ms. Norwel.
"We're not done yet, we will bring them home."
"We Will try Ms. Norwel"
