A Passage Through Time (Part One Of A Three-Part Short Story.)
The cold fingers of darkness that spelled the approaches a frosty November night, had steadily crept upon the village silently, and ever so suddenly, making Jamie feel a little uneasy and on-edge with herself. She had already been in bed just a little over three hours since falling asleep. But, she had already turned off the television in her lounge at just after 11 o'clock last night and had seen the dimness of daylight fade into night as sat curled up on her sofa.

Earth Elemental
Kendal followed behind Sean along with the rest of the group, Gordan walking at her side. He’d been silent on the car ride and she was still too freaked out and confused herself to attempt conversation. The group had gone back to the bar and piled into their cars. She’d ridden with Gordan because he’d gotten her into this but also because no one else had offered. They’d taken a zig-zag route through downtown and then had taken the highway for about forty minutes into a city she didn’t recognize. They’d parked in an underground garage in the business district and walked the rest of the way. Although Gordan occasionally looked over his shoulder, the rest of the group didn't seem concerned that anyone was following them.

Three days after being unceremoniously fired for time theft, David Gomez found the broader world ambivalent at best. When his boss pulled him aside and unveiled the creeping optimization conspiracy phasing out human influence on the world, he imagined it to be the dawn of some romantic revolution; humanity pitted against its own unfeeling, diabolical creation. What he got was an algorithm, programmed to anesthetize and replace the masses, which had largely succeeded and now treated its opponents with the same apathy it had forged in them.
