Mindless; Chapter 9
When I open my eyes again, I'm- surprisingly- still in my room. My head is pounding, my face hurts, my hands hurt, everything hurts. I push the pain aside though. The lights are off, except for a lamp across the room. The darkness of my room makes me feel as if the darkness has escaped and is trying to suffocate me. I need to turn on the lights.

Fire Maiden
Fire Maiden - A Tale in Seven Parts by Michael Asher Part 1 Just before sunset we halted our camels at a patch of grass and trees in the emptiness. We had come a long way that day, and the evening was cold. We fed the animals, collected deadfall from under the trees, and made a fire. We cooked polenta and by the time we had eaten it was dark. We built up the fire and sat close to it wrapped in blankets, as the wood crackled and the flames blazed. For a while we watched it burn in silence. Above us Lady Moon was bright and the stars were a cascade of pearls, but for us the fire was the central pole of the night’s tent, and as I stared into it, it seemed to grow larger and larger until the glow and the heat enveloped me. For a fleeting moment I glimpsed a face within the swirling flames - the face of a woman with smouldering eyes and raven dark hair. She gazed directly at me and smiled in a sultry way that shook me – she was so enticingly beautiful that I gasped.

The Princess and The Secret Door
Long ago, before cars, before a government, before anything of which we know now, there were Kings, and Queens. Knights and Generals. Blacksmiths and Stable boys. Having a princess for a daughter would seem easy, living inside a castle with servants at your every beck and call. Lounging about doing nothing. Maybe for a grown Princess that is, this is, in fact, about a Little Princess and her secret door.

Rolling Jade
The Rolling Jade banked sharply around the mangled rubble of asteroids fighting diligently to smash her into tiny bits. The crew lazily manned their stations scanning and watching for the money deposits to show themselves. The crew of the Rolling Jade under Captain Cosrow ventured out into the void for months at a time to conduct mining ops and survey operations for the Co-op they were a part of. The Dervin Alliance Co-op allowed a smaller fleet of ships to operate more efficiently and without the grind that the larger corporations demanded of their fleets and captains.

Lake of Souls Chp. 10
Previous Chapter Nothing happened to my body this time. No transformation. No growth. All I felt was a sense of lightness inside of me as if my burdens had been lifted. My thoughts that brought the tightness in my chest were still there but they no longer felt like a weight. They simply were in me now, another part of me like anything else. I left his chambers and found two guards outside of his room. I told them that I was done. They looked inside and nodded to me then followed me outside. They began ringing bells waking up all of the people while shouting, "The King is dead. The King is dead."

I am a Nobody
Well, if you are reading this, then I am definitely what I say I am, a nobody. I stand on the street with a half-lit cigarette pressed against my teeth, waiting on a bus to take me to the dead-end job that I hate, only making enough money to pay the rent for my cardboard box of an apartment. I might as well move into an actual cardboard box; that way, I can be more invisible as you pass me on the street like another piece of trash.

Into the War
The chill, damp air finally pulled Claire out of her slumber. She hadn’t slept in a comfortable position, and her screaming neck was proof. Slowly she bent her neck forward, the tight muscles feeling like breaking bones as they stretched. Long, slow blinks gave way to shorter, faster ones as she attempted to break through the sleep glaze over her eyes. It took a few moments until her could focus, and then she just stared at the opposite wall of the closet she chose for her bed. Claire began flexing her toes and her feet to get the blood flowing; despite it only being the beginning of the end of October, the cold rain she could hear outside made the unheated air inside easily sinkable into one’s bones. The blanket she stole from the top bunk the night before would stay right where it was.

The Unloved Daughter
~Nyx~ Life had been pretty uneventful, I tend to my regular day to day chores. My father hasn't asked me to attend any events. Which makes me happy because I'm sure he'd love for me to mess up again. It's almost sickening how much he enjoys punishing me. Since I had the rest of the day off I took a walk in the woods near the manor. It was my favorite thing to do, I came to a small brook. I sat down at the base of an oak taking in the nature smells around me. Thoughts of the crowned prince filled my mind, why was I even thinking about him. Duchess Von Keem is to be his wife and he would be insane to break off that engagement just for me. I sighed and let my mind wander off in a fantasy land where everything was better.
