13. "unthankful"
When Jewee stepped out from his room, he barely looked alive himself. It's difficult to use the term 'dead' to describe him, because we've seen death in a whole new light than we've ever seen it before, and clearly, as he walked nearer to us, following Nova's lead, it wasn't a literal 'death', but he did look empty, like you could stand right in front of him and he would look through you, not at you. It's as if he wasn't there -- on a different planet, rather, far from here. He didn't appear like he felt anything. He appeared like he forgot what emotion was.

12. "disobedient to parents"
"I don't think I can do this anymore. I'm starving, maybe, yeah, but I can't eat a bite. Ryan is dead. How could I possibly--," Nova murmured, head in her knees as she sat at the edge of the pavement. Ten feet to her left, Jayvee sat cross-legged, a plastic plate balanced on her lap, and she gobbled up the food she told me about with ease.

2. "that in the last days"
FIVE YEARS AGO: THE FIRST MEETING I awoke in a bed that wasn't mine, but not in the way one would think. No, I didn't spend the night picking up chicks, to wake up to a naked lady right next to me the following morning. I didn't pass out after drinking too much only to wake up hung over in a hotel room I didn't remember reserving.

1. "But know this..."
Dear Colby Lexoni, Today represents the five year anniversary of your previous stay in the Philippines sponsored by Bohol University. As an advocate for the name, I apologize for failing to reach the standards that were last promised you, and to prove so, I am inviting the group of 2016 to return to our reinvented program, which I have spent since our last-seen perfecting. I am certain that I can give you what I was not able to give you the first time.

27. "but proving false to its power"
ONE YEAR AGO: AN UNEXPECTED ENCOUNTER III "What got you so rattled? If you need to talk to me, then talk to me. What's going on?" Ryan exclaimed, but oblivious to the news that I had, he had the laid back attitude to laugh. I wish I could still have that, yet with news regarding the fate of his life or his death, I couldn't keep still. That was only part of his personality in the moment. Not mine.

Boomerang of Happiness - 19
In about a week after Anna started working, Colonel Grushevsky came to visit Alex at the station in the afternoon and said almost immediately after the greeting, as if he needed to unload this off his shoulders, “I’m sorry, Alex, but I’ll have to let Anna go.”

Runner
Chapter 1 The black clouds poured hard rain relentlessly onto the road like a bag that had been overturned in the sky. It was the rain of a hot Summer’s evening, falling in sheets at an angle swept up by the wind. There was a storm brewing. It rumbled in the air as it cooked, threatening to burn. The wind, which would seem odd for Summer, was typical of a blustery Scottish border-town. Together they made a formidable opponent for any driver. The raindrops were thick and dropping in pre-assembled puddles, while the gale caught as much as it could in a hurry and threw the water violently in all directions.

Lake of Souls Chapter 12
Previous Chapter I watched the god walk back into the dome and smiled to myself. I couldn't really say I had won that confrontation but I hadn't really lost either. The god and I were at a standstill but for now I had to put those thoughts away. Now was the time to start fixing the world I had left in shambles in my wake. Though how I was going to do that I wasn't exactly sure of. I was only one person and my connection to the land has disappeared when I gave up the King's souls. As I was scanning the land thinking I saw the little snake from before peeking out from an outcropping, "Is that malevolent creature gone? He gives me the creeps. Something about him is off like he doesn't belong here."

Punishment
Jistan shuffled from foot to foot, watching the group before him with great trepidation. The tension in the air was palpable, as if it could form into a mind strike. Four figures stood facing a tall woman with violent purple eyes. The Highness stared down at them from a podium coldly. Jistan stood back a few paces, uncertain what his place was in this situation.
