The Nile The Nyle The Nihil
The sky above her is the color of gunmetal, hammerless but deadly. She knows the light speed rockets that pierce the atmosphere are the closest things to shooting stars she’ll ever see. Celestial wonders if her name was coined by the streaks that puncture the sky, but she is old enough to understand there's something greater beyond the ash that clouds her adolescent wonder. She imagines they resemble the sparkly dots that populate her dreams, or perhaps were conjured up by lost generations whose naked eyes witnessed the Third World War.

The Lost Chained
After the journey- to the unknown Planet Kin, Amber always looked back into her mind and remembered that boastful day that led up to everything that lost the planets life and everything in it. Year 2021. Earth was going through the last transition of Covid-19. Everything seemed to be going back to normal. The masks came off. The sun was shining so bright and Amber remembered on that very July 8th day she felt her whole body slow down. She was driving with her best friend Mary. Amber pulled down the sun visor and looked at herself in the mirror. She stroked her long brown curly hair and touched up her eyeliner around her hazel eyes. They just finished doing a canvasing job in Bethesda Maryland with Pegasus. Amber didn't feel right. Amber was looking out the window of Mary's convertible when her body went through something that was beyond anything could explain. She looked out the window and kept repeating, turn right, turn right. Mary looked at her in a crazy stare and followed her direction. Amber looked over at Mary and felt like a robot going out of order. Her body was slowing down. It was like the universe sent to her brain 1 light year of instant information on how Earth failed. It happened in a blink eye. Her body slowly shutting down and as they drove she looked over at Mary and could not speak. Her eyes moved faster than a lighting bolt. She gathered all the information around her as they drove down the pastured road. However, her body was shutting down because the universe was sending her all the information she needed as she was teleported. It was like a jumpstart on your car when the battery dies. Amber, now rebooted driving in the same exact place with an avatar Mary. The only difference was they were not on Earth anymore. Amber yelled at Mary: Do you see what the hell just happened? Mary replied, what RRR you talking about in a robotic voice command. Mary stop the car! Instantly, at a gas station black everywhere. The clouds were so full of dust and the sky was so dark and dim that they could not grasp a breathe. Outside the window, a dog sat on bench covered in tin and rust with a hint of grey stained swirly dirt. He had a sign around his neck that said: Welcome to Tin. The dog started coughing out a motor and whistle sound. Amber looked at dog a feel of energy connected them. Amber felt something in her pocket as she stroked her hands down her legs in stress. She reached in and pulled out a black heart shaped locket. I don't remember having this and it sure enough doesn't belong to me she thought. All of a sudden- the dog jumped off the bench. It looked at Amber with a certain hard stare, ran and then just sat in the middle of the gas station. This isn't right. How did we get here? A high pitched sound entered Amber's brain very distinct with a vibration so intense she clinched her pocket and felt the heart shaped locket. She pulled it out and immediately. Placed it to her head, a pink glow radiated up into the sky as her brain decreased with loud sound. Something happened. Earth's secrets downloaded from Ambers brain into the the heart shape locket during the teleport. Everything happened so fast and she needed to find out what to do next. Just then, she felt the locket vibrate. She knew in her heart as she discretely clinched hard hold of the locket in her pocket- that they were all connected. She knew it was her sole mission to find where to take this black heart locket somewhere here on Tin. This new place all dark and dim full of what seemed to be lifeless escalated into a rampage of distorted imagery. Her body once again started slowing down. Slowing down as everything right before her eyes became smaller and smaller she seen everything so big get so small. It was like flipping a quarter and seeing the side of it in your eyes. Stuck in the middle of both worlds trying to pull her mind back to reality. The dog ran back over to Amber and started talking to her. She was in a trance like state as if time was froze and only the dog and Amber were allowed to exchange words in Tin. He said: "You have been chosen to come here with the black heart shaped locket filled with Mercury, Mars dust parsley flakes, small evaporated diamonds from the greatest deepest pressures in the ground from Botswana South Africa." Dog continued: "These key ingredients held in your locket are only to be used to fill the temple of Zala. The natural habitat found in the Eastern Mountain Top of Tin." Amber- You must go there and find The ZamShannon, founder of Tin, Mistress of De'Shay and Queen of this land. She is dying because of the greed, selfishness and corrupt govern of the men of Earth. For centuries your planet has lied, stole, brought about disease hunger, and cruelty to the beauty within. We are tired of your species. Our operators of the highest energies of Sun are too. But, you-Amber since birth, have always shown us to be universal in heart and in soul. This is why you have been chosen to be gifted this black heart shaped locket. It has been downloaded all key information into your memory bank- to help your planet and the Queen of Tin to reunite this darkness to the light again. I am Dog, the ruler of all dogs. Now, go and find the Mountain, The Temple of Zala. Take the locket to the dying Queen. These two planets like man & woman were created for each other but opposite. Tin is the Chained Black Star that powers Earth to be with light of life". They leave Dog and continue driving. Everything around so dark, depressed like state of deadness, dry, pale of flatness, just gray pavement long roads. They keep driving around the mountain towards the only blue in hopes to see the temple. Mary still robotic avatar as her driver but still friend from Earth. Amber directs Mary using her as a human GPS to get to the Mountain Top to find ZamShannon. They drive for hours. Out of nowhere- a sudden heard of black unicorns appear. On their equestrian saddles, miniature mushroom headed zombie bats swoon down in front of their car. A tranquil light of green arises above and around the car as the heard of "Zombatcon" ( the tribe you must fight that has been exiled from other planets Earth has never known of because they were so weak and unappreciative) The biggest black unicorn charges down and jolts a charge that leaves a huge crack in the road. Amber is so scared and doesn't know what to do. She just wants to get to the top of the mountain to help the queen because Dog told her about this important mission. She slings out the heart shaped locket and the Zombatcon's leader with the red mushroom head fly's off of his unicorn and tries to steal it from Amber. Amber holds the locket's string and licks the glowing middle and she turns into a giant fortress monster. She kills every single black unicorn and Zombatcon. Then she shrinks back to human size which makes her feel so joyful in heart and strong in courage. She knows now what needs to be done. Her confidence level has imported 100 percent. Amber charges full force with Mary in the convertible to the Mountain Top. They finally reach the blue light at the top of the mountain. There is only dust, dirt and 2 old Bonsai trees by the entry black shiny door. Amber tells Mary to wait in the car. She laces her white fluffy boots up and walks through the black door. It's darkens as she walks towards the sounds of distant melodies fainting away. She sees so many markings along the way full exposing memories of her own childhood. Her heart feels so much pain and sadness as tears run down her face. Amber felt so strong and a wind flew so peacefully beside her touching her cheek. A voice started to appear in her ear. She could not see anything. Amber called out and said: ZamShannon! Founder of Tin, Mistress of De'Shay, and Queen of this land- Are you there? I have been sent by Dog and bring to you this black heart shaped locket. I come with universal love and soul to help you. Please help me help Earth. The mixtures in it from the Mercury, Mars dust, parsley flakes, and small amounts of evaporated diamonds from the deepest pressures of the ground of Botswana South Africa swirled together in a circle. The circle grew bigger and bigger and bigger. A voice started to radiate over the temple with a beautiful vibration of a vibrato tone. All of the black unicorns and Zambatcon's appeared. The Bank
If she could see me right now, see where I've landed myself, would she be disappointed? The answer is unclear to me, and the barking of the tracking dogs makes it even harder to think. I'm currently huddled behind a large rock, too small to be called a boulder but big enough to hide my form. I'm too afraid to peek over the edge of the rock for fear of being shot at again. My right hand reaches up to brush the bullet graze I received just minutes prior. I feel my body shiver involuntarily at the memory: both the sound of the shot and subsequent tearing of my jacket were enough to send me flying behind cover. It's far too cold, rainy, and damp to risk a hole in my coat. Recollecting myself, my hands move all over my body in a patting motion to make sure everything is still attached. I made a foolish decision by leaving my pack and tent behind, but the gunshot didn't give me much time. All I have now is the locket she had given me; small, silver, and heart-shaped, she told me it would lead me to "the cure for all this calamity." She always was a wordy one. I recall when I first opened the damn thing: all that was inside was a built-in electronic chip and coordinates carved into the front piece.

The battered Jeep, the roof gone with only the driver’s door remaining, the green paint long worn away by the elements, shook vehemently as it finally pulled onto the well-hidden dirt path leading up into the mountains. The driver, head obscured by a black motorcycle helmet with a cracked visor, stopped the vehicle and poked their head out the non-existent window and looked back. The crumbling gravel road was empty of any other living thing and vehicle, completely overshadowed by the overgrown trees and bushes of the forest. The driver looked away and restarted the Jeep, and off it went up the mountain road, bouncing off the uneven terrain.

The clock struck 5:20 pm as Stephen had just arrived home from his job at the solar field. It had been a long hot day out in the sun tuning up and lubricating tilt motors. His arthritic right hand grabbed a beer out of the fridge, cracked it open and raised it to his lips. He took a long sip followed by a sigh of refreshment as he stared out the kitchen window at his small overgrown back yard.

A Day on Death's Door
It was a warm Thursday, or at least I thought it was. Time has been hard to tell since “the incident”. In fact, she should be back by now my wife that is. Her name is Laura and mine is Steven. It has been just over 5 months since the outbreak happened It started when an asteroid hit the earth. Most humans went underground, the ones that were too poor to go were killed. Nearly all animals and insects were wiped out. I go to grab breakfast and realize we have nothing. Well, I guess it is time I look for my wife. “Laura, do you read me, over.” I was starting to get worried, she had always answered her walkie talkie, even sometimes before I finished speaking. Come here Killer! Come here boy! That was my dog Killer, he was a German shepherd that was just over 5 years old, he was a guard dog of sorts. Me and Killer head to the garage to get on the bike, I could feel Killer knew I was worried. When the apocalypse started, we had put improvements on our bikes so that killer or even another person could get on and pedal without any issues. We get on the bike, and we ride for a mile or so when we spot the first corpse, there were no shortage of corpses These days. “WOOF BARK GRRRRRRRRRR WOOF” “what is it boy!” he barked like this whenever he saw food. That is when I noticed it and piece of bacon and a small can of dog food. To say I am starving is an understatement, I had not eaten in a week and a half, that is why she was gone. And now so was the food. It was already in my belly; I used the bacon as a spoon and ate it. I only thought of Killer when I heard him whining. “Oh no, what have I done. Killer has not eaten in a few days we saved the dog food for him and that too had run out. Suddenly he I hear him bark again, but this time it was not food, it was a sprinter, and he was coming right at us! I saw Killer jump on like leg and bite with all his might I grabbed a metal rod I had put in the bike seat and clobbered him. Then I heard a lot of groans, and I turn around to see a bunch of walkers coming at us and the corpse on the ground was turning as well. “Get In Killer! We have to go NOW!” It had seemed that we were free when another horde surprised us. One sprinter ran onto the wheels of the back tire. That made us fall over. “KILLER RUN!” he looked back and then he ran. I Tried to fight them, but one metal rod was no use for the zombies. I got bit and a random zombie that had snuck up behind me. I was thinking “It was over, I hope Lauren is okay” I lay rest. After about 10 seconds I notice a heart shaped locket one of the walker’s neck. The same one I gave Laura for our 5th anniversary. No, it cannot be. “LAURA!”
