Blackout
At least it was not too late in the dayโฆ Mr. Tabby was staring out of the dirty screen door on the balcony to see if the other houses were also in the dark. It was already grey and cold and he could see the park across the street was full of kids and their parents trying to enjoy what little they could of the rest of the Sunday. He wanted the day to be over, anyway, and sitting in the dark was actually quite easy with his comforter, beer and crackers. It would be over soonโฆ

Beneath The Moutnain
Gotta Love the spelling ERROR in the Title! ๐คฆ๐ฝโโ๏ธ Mount Etna The entrance to the cave system was in fact well-hidden. Carved into the eastern slopes of Monte De Fiore I, just beneath the lava collar, a four foot wide opening expelled faint gasps of hydrogen sulfide scented mist.

60 Seconds to Impact

The temporary arthritis inflammation on my left foot joints had left me unable to walk, with excruciating pain. Fortunately, a medical prescription for a 10-day course of steroids promised relief and a glimmer of hope in an otherwise challenging situation.

Self Destruct
โThis ship will self-destruct in 60 secondsโ The announcement was not given over a loudspeaker. It was only displayed on the personal screen of Captain Arnold Scott of the Starship Leviathan. The verbal notice came only through his earpiece. The enemy could not be allowed to know what was about to happen to them. The Viridistrum had invaded the ship 3 days ago. They quickly gained control of the ship. They believed that they had eliminated everyone. But the 250 members of the crew had already escaped. That includes Arnold's son, Jake. It was hard being apart from him but he knew that Jakeโs life was in danger if he stayed. He had to let him go. He made him go.
