Tales of Bette: Charlie Who?
We drove up the snowy, winding road towards the cozy A-frame cabin. 'We' it still feels weird to say think of 'us' like that. "There is no way we are not lost," Bette said. She looked at her phone again: no signal. "Do you have a map," she asked curtly, she tried her hardest to remain calm, but she was failing. Charlie had been generous to surprise her with the cabin getaway between Christmas and New Years', but it wasn't what she expected.

The Portrait and the Portal
We drove up the snowy, winding road towards the cozy A-frame cabin. Wait! Didn't the ad say A-frame, this looks more like T-frame, flat roofed frame, or whatever framed term is correct. We could barely see anything anyway, except the white blanket of snow covering everything. At this moment however, any old kind of frame will do. Our only wish was that it had a great deal of warmth, was cozy, inviting and perfectly safe inside.

I Do...Not.
As I stood in my wedding dress and my makeup artist touched up my lips, I heard my wedding party cheering. Did Taylor Swift accept my invitation and just show up? No. Yet, much like Swift herself, something did drop from the heavens above. I opened the window and called out, “What is that!?!” All at once, the group made their way inside and up the stairs to me.

Seven Months and Seven Hours
I hike higher and higher, determined to reach the top of the crag. Sweat is pouring off me like a gentle rain, and my body screams for a break. “You’re almost there, Prairie.” With the internalized pep talk, I feel my second wind kick in at full force. I take the last steps in exaggerated strides, reaching the top quickly. Finally, I get to see the view from way up here. Before I can enjoy the view, I spot movement in the clearing below. My heart starts racing as I squint my eyes, trying to make out the shadow I see there.
