Cayenne watched the flock of tiny Redpolls eating the hulled sunflower seeds mixed with thistle she had sprinkled across the snow mounds off the back porch. She loved watching these tiny finches, smaller than Chickadees. The tiny bird wasn’t bothered by the extreme temperatures; today, it was fifteen degrees Fahrenheit.

Lost
Gracie was amazed at how far she could see. The hills and trees stretched forever and looked like Mother Earth had tucked them into bed with a fluffy white blanket. She wondered if there would be something interesting between the two hills she saw down below. The rocks going down the side of her hill looked easy to climb. Curious, she started down to see what was to be found.

Polyhedron
I’m going to offer you a choice. It’s a choice you make right now, but it’s effects will reach far into the future – perhaps reaching as far as you yourself will go. You could think of it a coin toss, only the coin has, let’s say, twenty sides. I know, right? Well, you toss this coin, and if it lands a certain way up, a child dies. Yes, that’s right, a child dies. Cruel. I know, it’s a very cruel coin.

Akari's Wish
Akari's heart pounded as she ventured into the icy wilderness, her mother's life hanging in the balance. Armed with only her wits and a wooden whistle, fashioned to mimic the Tane bird's song, she sought the mythical animal said to grant wishes. From the legend, she knew only that this creature appeared uniquely during the winter solstice, preyed on Tane birds and was utterly undetectable to the human eye. Yet, she remained undeterred, knowing this was her last hope. Her plan was daring, but she knew that the snow, her ally, would reveal the creature's presence.
