What I Did Before My Summer Vacation
It was all my fault. I saw her arm rise, bent and coming up fast, with the fingers tight in what looked like a claw more than a fist and her face was beyond tense. Like she knew what she had to do. I was happy about that because I thought that I deserved what ever she had to dish out, since I had been a dumbass for most of the year. She was only responding with anger to my mistakes, doing what I may have done (shoe and the other foot). At least we dated.

His Life (Part 2)
CHAPTER 3 We drove from California to Alabama with everything we owned in our cars. The trip took an entire two days even with the rotation of drivers. My dad was determined not to stay in California a second longer. For him, California was a representation of an extraordinary life he provided for his family but also an incredible stressor for him. When the economy dropped in '08, he struggled to keep things afloat and it messed with his mental and physical health. My parents waited two years for me to finish high school, then they left soon after Zander and I had found an apartment.

The Chocolate Rose
THE CHOCOLATE ROSE Prologue: Now Prince Arrik peered out of the Palace tower window, his breath misting on the thin plate glass. As far as the eye could see, and he could see a long way over the flat terrain from this high up in his lofty tower, the ground lay white in a thick layer of freshly-fallen snow. More thick soft white flakes gently floated down from a still leaden sky. His mother had forecast the snowstorm yesterday with a smile, knowing he missed the snow, ice and mountains, so he shouldn't have been surprised by it. She was so wise and he had yet to learn such wisdom.

The Samhain Chronicles: Ch. 17
Penelope grumbled to herself as she scratched out a few more notes. She was still fuming at Daniel, not believing he could do something so heinous. On top of that, he completely shut down when she confronted him about it, which was nothing like the man she knew. Granted, he was known to be shy and awkward at times, and she had been quite forceful in her scolding. Penelope paused a moment, wondering if he behaved that way because she had been too hard on him. Try as she might, her temper often did have a way of getting the better of her at the worst of times. She thought back to the look on his face: he seemed embarrassed when she confronted him, remorseful even, and like he wished to say something but couldn't. "Perhaps it had just been a misunderstanding," she mused, feeling a pang of regret at remembering how shocked and miserable he looked when she'd slapped him.
