Love
Dear Felix
A wolf howled, the sound low and haunting. Soon, it was joined by more voices. Dear Felix looked at me, his eyes wide. The night's festivities had just ended, but the staff and the man of the house remained in the gardens, soaking in the moonlight and the stories of the stars. All others had returned to their homes around the village. It was growing lighter out, but the moon still held its proper place. Exhaustion had taken hold of many of us prior to the sounds of the wild animals but now we were all alert.

God, I hate the bathrooms here. They are always so nasty. With the amount of customers you get in your globalized, multi-million dollar franchise, you’d think you could at least afford to wipe the sink counters once a decade.

Autumn in New York
It’s a quiet, cloudy evening in New York City. When I arrived home from work a little while ago, I went straight to my bed. Not to sleep yet, but just to relax. I’m beat. It could be the gloomy fall weather, or my illness, or a bit of both. Fridays are great, but they can feel rough sometimes after pushing so hard all week. Either way, tonight is a time to rest, drink coffee, and write. In the morning (when I have more energy), I will go for a walk. Tomorrow is a new day.

Six Swans
Once upon a time, a king was hunting in the great forest, he struggled to chase a beast, but his followers were not able to follow him. It was getting late, and the king stopped to look around and realized that he was lost. He tried to get out of the forest, but could not find the way. At that moment, the king saw an old woman, a witch, nodding uncontrollably, walking toward him. "Good day," said the king to her, "will you show me the way out of the forest?" "Ah, yes, Your Majesty," replied the witch, "of course I can tell you, but on one condition. If you do not agree, you will never get out of the forest, and you will die of hunger in the forest."

Miracle’s Curse
"You look handsome." The red haired woman, that Adrian had learned was named Sara Felle, watched him in the mirror, her tiny mouth curved pleasantly. He didn't like the red and gold coat she had given him, or the pin of a Phoenix. But he studied his face in the mirror as if he had never seen it before. His thick, messy brown hair gave his face character. He noticed the crook in his nose, as if he had broken it before. His cheekbones were defined, but mostly from malnutrition. His pale skin made his dark green eyes stand out. Not for the first time, he asked, "how long was I asleep?"

Miracle’s Curse
[Author note: The premise of this story is based off a dream of mine from a few years ago, so the world itself is slightly distorted. There is a mix of sophisticated technology and medieval means, and I kept them in order to stay true to the original source. The main focus is on the characters, though, and I hope you enjoy them as much as I did. Thank you.]
