Beyond the Mountains
Regoral I thought humans were a myth. In my youth, I had believed the frightening stories my mother told me of murdering men who invaded our land, bringing death and destruction in their wake, but, when I came of age, I quickly gave up believing such stories. Surely, the human race was nothing more than a legend invented by mothers to frighten their young ones into obedience. That was what I thought, until the day I found Torin.

Eighths
A man wearing a red trench coat and glasses wanders through the barren landscape left behind from an intense fire. He calmly walks through the destruction with his hands in his pockets, not showing any noticeable signs of concern. He objectively observes, occasionally picking up a charred branch or a handful of dirt. "Now what could have done this?" he asked himself. "Something powerful enough to burn down all these trees."

Irelia
A quiet calm surrounded the queen Ariata upon walking through the portal. Ears still ringing from the clash of battle left behind in her own world, the stillness of the air made her pounding heart seem louder. She took a quick glance back to make sure the way was closed, then stumbled forward, falling to her knees. The heavy bundle wrapped securely around her chest began to stir at the sudden impact. “Shh now my child,” she crooned softly, “you are safe.” Her blood soaked hands shook while she delicately unwrapped the girl, revealing large grey eyes and a head of jet-black hair.

Five Winters

He holds his small bunny away to get her as far as possible from the comparatively monstrous boars charging behind. Only the dexterity and weight difference keep the toddler ahead as they’re forced to propel their thick hides and gnarled tusks over fallen trunks.

Silver Line of Power
A fiery rain poured over my head at sunrise as the field artillery fired from the other side, sending their led balls hurdling towards us. All I wanted was to get out alive. This dreadful war was the worst thing I had gone through. It was worse than when three of my cousins died the same day of cholera. If only the South would just surrender. They were on the path to defeat, why delay the inevitable and cause more death. They called what we were doing ‘Northern aggression,’ but I had called what they were doing land theft. Jefferson Davis was the one who wanted to break off from the union, but maybe Lincoln could make a few concessions, give the South some of their own land in exchange for every slave and draftee on their side being freed. I had no preference as to which side won, I just hated fighting. I was no cowardly deserter though. I had fought gallantly with my honor and integrity intact.
