Yatsuo Smells like Slavutych
The light was shining through the contemporary painting I have been forced to use as blinds, to cover a single window in my South-facing, bright at four in the morning, wasn’t-designed-for-a-grown-woman room. Muriel’s Second Hand Book Emporium, Chapter 1: The Inheritance. First Place in Under Purple Clouds Challenge. Top Story - March 2023.

Lavender and lilac, periwinkle and magenta, swirling and twirling. To the buzz of the cicadas, the chirp of the common nighthawk, the rush of bird wings, and the water lapping and tapping against the rocky banks of the meandering creek.
