Tribulation
This story has been heavily edited and reposted with the same title. Link at the bottom. Feel free to read either. The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. Despite its empty state, the cabin was not a decrepit, molding thing but was actually rather large and lovely. It once sat deep in the wood far from the nearest town but over time civilization moved closer and a well-used road sprouted up, with one gentle curve passing just 40 feet from the front stoop. For decades cars sped by oblivious to its existence amongst the dense pines and fir trees, until one night in late winter, during an unexpected and hellish storm, a young couple newly married, were passing through on their way to a new life.

Bosvenegh Manor
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window... The soft illumination revealed a single set of footprints leading to the ivy-covered wrap-around porch where a cherry-wood rocking chair softly creaked in the stillness of the night. The halo of the candle obscured the figure staring out at the gnarled trunks of ancient Sitka spruce, laburnum, and ash dripping with English ivy and Spanish moss. Fireflies danced and blinked to the pulsing rhythm of summer cicadas and crickets lulling even the most restless of creatures.

Lake of Flames
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night a candle burned in the window… Driving up the road in a green van, Kevin, Michael, Rita, Liz, Jade and Devon are all on a trip to Greenwood Lake for their yearly get together. They had all been taking this trip together since high school, but now that everyone is getting ready to graduate college it carries a much bigger significance. "I still don't understand why I have to be the one driving this old dump truck of ours on this long trek to light a freakin' candle" said Kevin in a sarcastic tone. "Because you drew the short stick" replied Devon, while lightly tapping him on the back of the head from behind his seat. "For nearly 8 years we've been taking this trip and now this looks like the last one we'll get to do for a while" said Rita sitting to the right of Devon. Everyone briefly sat quiet as Rita's words started to set in. "Guess this really is it" said Jade in a tearful tone. "Ms. Hardly ever talks just threw her two cents in, that's how you know this is serious" said Kevin playfully.

Anniversary
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. As Ty approached, the light drifted toward the interior of the cabin. Maybe it’s some teenagers or a vagrant. Normally Ty would not want to impose on uncertain company, but the snow was ankle deep, and his toes were frozen inside wet socks. He hoped the occupant would take pity on him.

Blue Moonlight Part Eleven: The Adventure Begins.
The kind townspeople waved goodbye to us, Caroline showing us a bunch of bat horse creatures. They looked like black horses with black leather wings, red eyes glowing in the dark atmosphere. Snorting, the biggest one snuggled against my neck. Chuckling to herself, Caroline covered her lips.

Stay Away From The Cabin In The Woods!!
"The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window." Was it a wanderer passing through the woods finding shelter for the night? Unsure, the two friends, who always explored these woods together pondered their next move. The cabin was a small one room structure with 2 windows in the front, a chimney on the side, and a door with a window in the front. They decided to go explore the cabin. The sounds of the forest seemed to get amplified as they approached the dark cabin. The crescent moon didn’t provide much light and the two stayed clear of the light illuminating from the window.
