The Haunted Cabin
Two girls were hiking when they got lost in the woods and they stumbled upon a children’s camp. They asked if they could spend the night and find their way back to their campsite in the morning. The camp counselors informed them that all of the cabins were taken but they could camp out by the campfire. This was when one of the girls noticed a cabin sitting atop a small hill. It looked empty and she inquired why they couldn’t spend the night there. The counselors all responded with dread. It was a very evil and haunted cabin and was kept locked up and empty. They explained that none of the children would go near it and late at night they could hear noises from there and even see spooky lights. As far as they knew that cabin had been sitting there and empty when the camp was first established. Supposedly no one wanted to knock it down for fear that the camp would be cursed.

Cabin of Lost Hope
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. This was no ordinary cabin. The cabin didn’t really exist honestly. Some say it only appears on a full moon. Others say that it’s a myth. The truth of the cabin is much more complicated than that. If you do find the cabin, it’s likely the last time you will see Earth.

15 Minutes
“The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window.” Josh stated to nobody in particular since he was alone. The darkness of night was absolute. It was so quiet that he heard only his heart throbbing in his ear. The sky overcast it’s shadow as the moon shone through the trees bathing the dirt, brown leaves, and faggots laying on the ground. The smell of dampness and rotted vegetation hung in the air like a piercing cry from a lonesome owl ghosting the forest.

Sunset
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. We had had our cabin for 10 years and had never seen anyone around the old place. We were sitting by the campfire, a nightly ritual for us on a beautiful fall evening. My husband was concerned that maybe kids had broken in and was worried about a fire.

The Shepherd's Ewe
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. It wasn't the first night such a candle was kindled, each year at dusk before the winter solstice, a lamb was chosen. The lamb was prepared, trained, and provided lodgings at the cabin on a site as prehistoric as the black mountains surrounding it.

The Cabin in the Forest
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. The girl sucked in her breath when she saw that unignorable glow emanating from the window that should have been empty. There was nothing else around to mistake it for as much as she wished she could. It was that window, that candle. She looked above to see the sun slowly setting over the mountain and her eyes went wide.

Welcome to Our Home
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. The flames danced in the cool winter breeze as their light cast an ominous glow around the derelict room within. The man walked up to the door, which was barely accessible through a thick shroud of interweaving branches. He took out his hunting knife, carving his way in, treading upon a rotten mat that read: “Welcome to our home”.

Endless
“The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window." And now it was starting to rain. It was getting dark and she was already cold. But her heart sank with dread at the thought of who might have found her. She had fled to these woods a few days ago, knowing that this cabin was miles away from the next nearest road. It had served as her bunker, hiding from the faces she could no longer bear to see.

They say the Lambs are Fleetingly Gorgeous
Appetizer - A Guest in the Night Photography: Cabin In The Forest by Paul Itkin, 2016. The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. Odette watched from the patio. The distant candlelight reflected in the irises of her mauve eyes. The cabin adjacent from their quant little house had always been lonely. Creaking, shuddering, and groaning to itself in the cold. But now, the delicate curtains flailed to reveal the outline of a man. Watching her watching him.

Whorl
, The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. If asked, the three people who felt drawn to trespass on private property toward the flickering light could not have succinctly defined what drew them down the wooded lane and into the house's midst. Of course, in the end, no human bodies were left to ask, and the house resumed its dark emptiness with the secrets swallowed into the floorboards like an untended wine stain.
