Journal Entry #444: Lately I have been thinking about what doc said: so stupid but maybe I’ll try it. Reminder that he said maybe I should try writing my journal entries from an outside observer perspective, maybe so I can be more kind to myself? I don’t think it will work, especially since who can actually be objective about themselves?! That seems like an exercise in futility. Honestly though, I have had the most crazy week so maybe it would be beneficial to slow things down and be as objective as possible about everything that has happened (from an outside perspective). Exclusive, this just in: news with what perhaps reveals some other things that you all don’t know about me? Stay tuned and buckle in:

The Music In My Head
I listened to my unbearably torn Saddle shoes click on the sidewalk. Click. Click. Click. A crimson morning sky, bleeding with the promise of a new day, showered above my head. I hummed to myself, a spontaneous rhythm I didn’t necessarily know. And then as if someone had whispered gently into my ear, I heard the lyrics. Words and notes sewn together on music score in my mind. Abruptly, I stopped myself and dug through my old worn leather purse. Paper. I needed paper, and a pen. I always seemed to carry both somewhere on my person.

Fight of the Phoenix
Good morning everyone. It’s 7:15 a.m. in Newark, New Jersey and the date is September 11th, 2001. I’m on my way to Newark Airport so I can catch my flight to the Bay Area of sunny California. I love the west coast. I wish I was going for vacation, but this time it’s for business. I’m pretty sure I’ll be able to take my wife and kids out there sometime in the next year, we’ve all been planning on it for a long time. So I arrive the airport and not surprisingly it’s just as busy as it’s always been, but it doesn’t take long for me to get my tickets and get to my terminal. Looks like I’m first in flight on United Airlines flight 93, nonstop from Newark to San Francisco.

Tippecanoe and Telemischief Too. Runner-Up in Next Great [American] Novel Challenge.
Will Harrison looked around the grounds of old estate. It had been - what? Two decades? Twenty-four years since he had last taken his leave? The grouse still called and drummed from the copses of trees nearby, but the landscaping had not been well-maintained and the brush was overgrown. However the brick façade upon which he had insisted, with its double layer of graceful columns, still cast its spell, speaking of power and privilege just like the aristocratic homes of his native Virginia.

Climate fiction-world deeply affected by climate change
In the year 2100, the world was no longer the blue and green paradise it once was. The relentless advance of climate change had left it scarred, with vast deserts swallowing up once-thriving cities, and the remnants of a once-cohesive society clinging to the last remaining oasis.
