Sara stood in the cave, focusing as she called into being new robes to protect her. Her first robe had already been reabsorbed into her fungal network, leaving her only in a torn shirt and pants, fabric shredded from claws, stone, & fire. She shivered slightly in the damp air, but her focus was absolute.

The Forgotten Room
In our house, the hallway upstairs had a rule: Never touch the last door on the left. Mom never wrote it down, but the rule was solid as concrete. Holidays, birthdays, random Tuesdays - nobody went in. If a guest got lost looking for the bathroom and wandered too far, they were intercepted with a speed that suggested Olympic training and generational trauma.

The cave entrance erupted into chaos as the next wave surged forward. Expecting to see three, or maybe even Four creatures next she groans as the wave comes into view at the cave entrance. One Jungle Cat, two Rock Constrictors, and three Monkey Maulers. Six predators, all snarling, hissing, and clawing to get inside. Sara’s heart sank. The escalation was brutal. "Three creatures to six? That’s not a wave, that’s a flood!"
