Memory Bank
It had been 22 years since the war ended. He walked down the street where the government had erected a 100-meter-tall anti-invasion wall, forever closing off every beach and coastline in the country. He placed his hand on the wall, closed his eyes, and took a deep breath. The air around him was putrid and thick with pollution. But for that mere moment, he remembered and felt as if he had inhaled a breath of salty ocean air.

Born in the Fire
A volcano rumbled and crackled as birds flew in a flurry and animals ran for their lives lightning split the night sky as smoke and ash roared from the volcano's mouth like a dragon after roasting its prey. The mountain shook and rumbled before the fire (BRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!) a massive explosion of lava and molten rock spewed from the volcano spreading fire everywhere as one rock tore through trees and others scorched everything in its way. When it finally landed far away from the volcano as it continued to churn out the blazing liquid the rock cracked (crick) than another (crick) before finally it burst open spouting more molten lava and an arm. In the morning the man lay on the ground as the night hid his face and animals moved in the background he cracked opened his eyes and saw stars and moon staring back at him. He rolled to push himself up and felt pain from his arrival all over he struggled to his feet and looked around and saw the land replaced with scorched earth. He walked on into the green unknown and saw it filled with multi-colored plants, strange insects, and odd animals as they ran past and away from him. He walked for a few minutes before finding a pool of water and drank from it. After he stopped he saw his reflection for the first time dark red skin covered his face and body his face hung from his head down to his shoulders, he saw his eyes were pure yellow/gold with a jagged scar over his left eye. He saw markings strange dots and curves embedded in his arms and the center of his chest. After he had enough of his confusion he continued onward exploring more of the strange new home he walked through a jungle patch and watched as green fanged monkeys swung by some stopped to eat blue fruit that sat in the tree and looked back at Hellfire as they ate. Hellfire walked under the tree and tried to jump up to fruit but he could not reach it he tried again jumping higher and still it was out of reach. Then stepped back and got a running start then jumped for the fruit he still couldn’t reach it as he fell back on down on his stomach. (HHHUUU!!HUUU!!!HUU!!) The monkeys laughed at him as he spat the grass out of his mouth and picked himself back up. The monkeys continued to laugh at him until their ears perked up they heard something coming Hellfire felt the trembles through the ground before the monkeys took off as Hellfire looked around to try and find what was coming but something was already watching him from the shadows. (ggggrrrrrr) The creature growled low readying to pounce as the young fledgling turned around a raptor pounced on him (AAAAEEEEEEE!!!!!) the reptile tackled Hellfire to the ground as the two rolled through the jungle the raptor screeched and clawed at Hellfire and he did his best to hold the beast back from snapping his head off. They continued to tumble as the raptor started to dig into Hellfire with its claws. Hellfire “Agghh!!!” gold blood matching his eyes began to run down his stomach and chest before <whump!> The pair came to a stop. Hellfire threw the raptor off of him It screech and snapped at him making Hellfire get back as he saw he was backed by a massive tree and its roots. Hellfire looked at the wounds on his chest and waited for the reptile to attack. The raptor measured its prey stepping side to side swaying its tail to distract him. Hellfire reached for anything to defend himself before. “RRAAHH!!” it jumps at him again with claws Hellfire tossed something at it hitting the beast in the face allowing him to duck and slide under it. He ran for escape but the raptor knocked him off his feet with its tail. Hellfire got sent away from the tree root and into a bush where he had a moment to catch his breath. He slowly gathered himself angry and confused his only focus was to kill that thing. His wounds had stopped bleed but he saw what might be a trail on the ground and started running covering his wounds. (AAAIIIIII!!!!AAAIIIIIII!!AAAIIIIII!!!!) The raptor screeched into the air as Hellfire sprinting through the jungle as animals scattered howling and screeching as the raptors gave chase. Before he knew it another had come from behind and bit him on his shoulder but not slowing him down. He saw steam coming off his skin for a moment then continued running as he was still hunted. One more came from the right this time and snapped at his midsection. Hellfire dodged it as the first one came up going for his neck Hellfire saw something hanging from a vine and snatched it as he the raptor pounced. He smacked the beast with a long white club knocking it away as he continued to run. He raced off as the raptors followed one on each side and one on his heels they all took a snapped at him at one point before Hellfire had come to a dead end. In front of him stood the beginning of a mountain and around it were bones, remains of something else’s food. Hellfire turned to face the raptors as they crept in on him drooling and snapping at each other for who got the first bite. The cornered newborn looked around and grabbed a bone to defend himself with nowhere to go he prepared himself for his last stand. The raptor from the right lunged after him Hellfire “AAAHHH!!” he yelled ready to face the predator <FHOOOM!!> A blaze erupted from his mouth and hit the raptor in the nose burning right through to the bone. (EEEEEEIIIIIII!!!!!!) The raptor screeched and tried to crawl back as the other waited. Hellfire "YAAA!! YAAA!!!! AAAAHHH!!!!!" Hellfire's whole body burst to flame as the raptors backed away Hellfire stepped forward blasting another flame at the raptor in middle then another at the one on the left. The raptors turned and ran as their skin sizzled from the flames. Hellfire looked at himself as he saw the flames burn around his arms and legs. As he calmed down the flames died down as well until they were gone completely Hellfire looked at his hands and the spots where he had been bitten and there were no marks or signs of injury. He knocked over a few more bones then actually looked at them. They were small circle things with jagged edges on the bottom. It was discolored with a more yellow look to it than the one Hellfire found earlier. He walked away from the dead-end and continued to look around. Hours passed before he came to a plain where a few animals were eating grass. Hellfire tried to summon the flames again, as they sparked to life his left hand became engulfed in flames he looked at horned animals eating grass and then thrust his hand forward again the fireball flew swift and accurate torching the beast as it caught fire. The other animals noticed and took off running Hellfire burst from tall grass where he was hiding and blasted the animals again as it moaned in pain before collapsing. Hellfire grabbed the burned carcass dragged it to a rock where he could see above the tall grass in case of any scavengers coming by. He began ripping pieces off and eating it. As he looked around him he saw birds flying overhead and the sun coming up along with other animals as well. He saw animals begin to come back as he ate the last of his burned carcass before he got up and left. As he continued on he was constantly playing with the fire turning it on and off lighting small flames or firing massive infernos into the air. He thought about using his powers again until he heard shouting something from afar. He followed saw two animals making noise they walked on two feet and were pulling something up out of a hole in the ground while one of them stared at something they were holding. He watched them for a few minutes before they started going into the jungle Hellfire followed them while they bushwacked through the jungle exploring as Hellfire did before them. The animals trailed through the jungle confused by the animals the plants one even, unfortunately, tried to touch a purple flower that had pink quills that almost snapped one of their fingers off. Hellfire chuckled at the close call as the humans kept walking. Hellfire continued to follow them as they talked among themselves Hellfire tried to understand them however their words made no sense to him. The group made their way to a valley where massive blocks were destroyed and broken. The ground was unevenly elevated and as powerlines were uprooted and thrown over, some had trees laying on top or to the side of them. Vehicles were all shattered or missing pieces. Hellfire was confused by the distinct difference between wherever he was and where he woke up. The herd of animals continued to walk through the wasteland as Hellfire stalked them. As he followed Hellfire saw more of the small discolored bones from before only in groups now some inside the ruined blocks others were laying around or underneath something bigger. But they all looked the same shape as the animals he was following. Hellfire watched as the herd stopped for a moment in what used to be a café. Hellfire got close peeping at them from behind a boulder. As he hid a piece of paper blew underneath his foot. It was a charred newspaper it read "ECO-TERRORIST trigger environmental disaster. Experts are unclear in fallout. 1% complete lunar, habit billions KNEW?” Hellfire didn’t know what any of it meant but he lost track of one of the animals since one was missing. Hellfire looked around for any sign of it before <thunk!> a spear came for Hellfire’s head forcing him to duck. As the herd took off running away from it. Female “Did you kill it?” Male “Don’t worry just keep running!” Hellfire got up and chased them as they sprinted away from him. They flew through the streets running like prey jumping over debris, weaving through buildings but Hellfire’s golden eyes kept up with them. The herd saw Hellfire gaining on them and one of them and tried to fight Hellfire but he was ready for it. The animals charged with a spear at Hellfire and before it reached him Hellfire “RAAHHHH!!!" he unleashed a blast of fire the swallowed the animals and torched them to burnt crisp. Male “DANNY!!!” Female “C’mon we gotta go.” The animals continued running as Hellfire looked at the carcass and saw something glow on it as the heat steamed off. A red heart-shaped locket was around the animals yet it was completely untouched by the flame. Hellfire took the locket and examined it while animals continued to run. The humans continued running until they made it to the remains of a church where sentry points had been set up around the building. The humans made it back to their larger group of scavengers who were working on some kind of communication device. Male “TANK we got trouble! One of those things they're close by." Tank “What thing?” Female “A hellhound.”

My Dear Julie
I was separated from my group when we were suddenly attacked by many vengeful spirits. Honestly, I was happy breaking away from them. I had wished I could do it sooner, but they threatened anyone who tried by saying they would sacrifice them to the spirits just to live but a little longer.
