Nerves Never Lie
The last time I was on a date, my stomach churned so loudly, I had to excuse myself. Nerves never let me down. When I returned, the bussers were already clearing the table, and the waitress surged at me with those intense eyes that asked, “Who’s paying for this?” I paid. I always pay.

Pleasant Work
Blisters, bunions, and dirt on my trousers. Musty mildew, rotten wood. A task undone. For too long, I let Pa’s barn go to pasture. Today, I mean to make a change. See, I’m a man of minimal ambition. One who knows nothing about the fruits of a hard day’s labor. My old man sure did though, back when he had ten toes to the ground, instead of ten toes up underneath.

Join The Party
Humans have a tendency to live in the past. We dwell on mistakes, idolize old stories, and toil endlessly over what could have been. The series of decisions that ended the world would have been studied in textbooks for generations. If there were survivors, we’d question them all.
