Monsieur Death
Evangeline I had an idea right before we managed to sneak out the gate. “Wait!” I hissed. He nodded. I ran around my house and jumped the window. I heard a pounding on my door, so I grabbed the box of money from under my bed and hid under the bed. My mom gave up knocking and opened the door. She walked in and looked out the window. I slithered next to her and snatched the car keys from her pocket and hid again. She left, calling my name. I slid out the window and ran back to where Liam waited. I held up the car keys.

Monsieur Death
Liam I hated Shalka’s. They were monsters of plague and disease. and loved to suck the life out of their victims. I know, being the god of death, I should love that stuff! But they had tried to kill far too many times. Doctor Plague, the god of disease, was supposed through o keep them hidden away in Despair, but instead, he considered them his pets, and mostly let them run around, hurting gods and causing issues. But unleashing them on humans? He was not supposed to do that. Me and him had never gotten along, but defying a direct order from Judgement himself was across the line. What was he doing?! He had always gone out of his way to cause trouble for me, but I never expected this. It just appeared in the dining room, teeth and claw. It leaped at us. I was too slow to protect Evangeline, but she was plenty capable of protecting herself. She brought up her fork and stabbed it in the eye. Blood spilled down her arm, but she didn’t seem to notice she backed away, gripping her bad shoulder. It seemed to be hurting her less. She snatched her bowl and threw it in at the monster. The ceramic shattered harmlessly against its skin, but I was there by then. I grabbed its neck and pulled it down, chocking and gasping. It managed to throw me off and head for Evangeline again, but she had grabbed a handful of paper towels and put them in the stove. She waved it in front of its face, causing it to reconcile and hiss. When it started going out, she drove it into its mouth. It shook its head and yelped, jumping around and demolishing the kitchen. I jumped in it with a kitchen knife and stabbed it through the head. It shrieked and screeched until it shriveled up into the wound, burning away until it was nothing but the plague pendent it wore around its neck. We both stood there, breathing hard.

Monsieur Death
Liam As soon as we parted after lunch, I knew she was in danger. I guess it just came as being her guardian. Maybe it was creepy, but I followed her. I went around the house and saw her sitting in her bedroom with the window open. She sat there for a while, looking at her phone and tapping the bed beside her. She finally got up and went into the room next to her, which I supposed was her bathroom. She came out in different clothes, a camouflage tank top and ripped jeans. Suddenly, with a quick look around, she pulled a shoe box and counted the money before closing it. Then she climbed out of her window and started to walk away. I could only press myself against the wall and hope she didn’t see me. She didn’t, though, and seemed lost in thought. She wandered into the woods across the street. I followed her, slipping behind trees and begging her silently not to turn around. She stopped when she reached a quick river, lined with jagged rocks. A tiny, thin tree branch had fallen across. I suddenly understood why Judgement had me watching her. There was no way she was going to get out of this alive. Surprisingly, she made it about three quarters of the way across, before the branch broke under her feet. She closed her eyes as the rocks hurtled towards her head. But I was already there. Somehow, my arm was full of strength and power, and I hauled her up with no problem. But as soon as she was safely on shore, my newfound strength disappeared. We both lay gasping on the dirt.

Evangeline We didn’t talk for the rest of the meal. Afterwards I paid and we left. We were quiet the walk home, and the only word uttered between us was goodbye when he left me at the house. Kylia and the House of the Veil
I woke to a soft warm breeze against my bare arm. I opened my eyes to find light, though still dim as the sun hadn’t quite risen above the horizon. I sat up with a yawn, taking in my large, beautiful white marble room. Lovely marigold flowers collected for me to warm the cold winter atmosphere sat in beautiful vases.

The Starry Night
Antariksh's stare moved towards the sky. Bestowed with millions of shining stars, the sky seemed pretty, as if emitting small shining balls of light, in between the darkness. The darkness, which would have had otherwise engulfed the whole sky into a permanent state of nothingness, into some eerie sense of blankness, as if nothing else exists, ever. He noticed a star, twinkling. What was it, he wondered. Why did it twinkle? His six-year-old brain could not decipher the reason behind that. He kept staring into the vastness of the sky, as a gentle layer of breeze caressed his face, making the sweat beads that had formed on his foreheads disappear momentarily.

Eight-legged messengers
Diza woke to immense pain in her right leg and hair in her face. As she tried to move, pain lanced through her ribs making her gasp. Forcing herself to move through the pain, she finally managed to roll onto her back. Stars danced in her vision, but she forced herself to focus on her breathing. “Ta’Kaylah,” she whispered. Shifting her shoulders a bit, Diza exposed a fold in her shirt. “Rozhin, help”. A rose-colored tarantula peeked out. “You said someone else can speak to your kin. Find them. Get help. Ta’Kaylah needs you”. Rozhin skittered away, and Diza breathed a small sigh of relief.
