In the Dark
She jolted awake. The feeling of a nightmare clinging to her skin, her mind feeling heavy. The air was stale, like a long unused room. Planting her hands against the cold floor, she pushed herself up, sitting hunched over her knees as she looked around. Her throat was dry and her breaths came quick and sharp as her eyes strained against the dark, but there was no light. There was nothing. When she reached out a tentative hand, there was nothing but the smooth surface beneath her.

72-Hour Extension
“Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” – Some idiot who just screwed up. Professor Scrate, Sir, I am requesting another extension for the assignment due tomorrow, Feb 24th in Agricultural History 431. I know you told me that you wouldn’t grant me anymore extensions once football season was over, it isn’t because of sports this time though. I think I’ll need a 72-hour extension due to an error with my Personal Time Skip Device that I loaned out from the library. I also am asking for help, I have hurt my hand and it is making it difficult to type. Could you please contact my academic advisor, Mrs. Devrie, and tell her that I may not make the departure time for my colonization internship so that I can finish my research project? Thank you. If you do not hear from me in 96 hours, please send help. I am in the year 1673 B.C. in Crete.

No Iron in the Mushroom Circle
Large white mushrooms grew in a perfect circle at the edge of Sylvia's lawn. She cut the power to the lawnmower, wiped sweat off her brow with the back of her hand, and stepped closer. Sure, she'd seen mushrooms like this in the area before. And there must be a rational explanation for them growing in a circle. Her imagination drew her irresistibly closer anyway.

The Hunters and The Hunted
Meet Marty “Theresa Holland, here. Live on the scene of the Giacomo House where authorities arrived after several gunshots were reported,” a young redhead stood before a news camera in front of a lavish Great Neck, Long Island home. The flashing lights of police vehicles and an ambulance could be seen behind her. “According to sources shots were fired by Nicole Giacomo, wife of the alleged Crime Boss, Onofrio Giacomo. It is rumored that the altercation was over an affair Mr. Giacomo was carrying on with a close friend of his wife.
