Outsider
The sun had barely been up for more than an hour, but the heat had already caused a trickle of sweat to run down her spine. Around her, the humans trudged on. Many of them were so tired they could feel their bones creak with every step. After all the weeks of travel, most had learned to walk in the shade provided by the caravans, although that did not stop their constant complaints. A curse at the sand gods was muttered every few moments, followed by a hurried apology, just in case the gods should decide to take the insult to heart. Even those humans rich enough to ride in the caravans complained about the heat. She had already heard several flasks of water being opened and drunk, and as usual it was not the walking travellers that were the first to dip into their daily water ration.

In Five Years!
Day dreaming is fun and can brighten up your day. You can be who you want to be and achieve your goals in your daydream. Five years from now I see myself getting on the New York Times Best Sellers list for the first time with about 15K to 20K books sold. This will put me probably in the mid-90s on the list. Since I am dreaming let’s say #95. I know at this spot on the list I am in a very precarious place. I can be off the list by the next week. However, I still dance around my home like a mad woman. Laughing and giggling out loud with a lot of joy in my heart. I know my next royalty payment will be the largest ever. I can get the local and maybe even regional newspapers to write about me if I move quickly. A week is not a lot of time. The best part I can say I am a bestselling author forever even if I am only on the list for just one week.

The Deception Within
Stay on your current path, dear one. We are astonished and proud of your successful efforts to build an altruistic society. A society that is more aligned with what we in spirit envision for the future of humanity. We were certain that you and your team would be able to successfully usher in a new world and new way of living that no human has ever experienced. We want to assist you with the building of the skyscraper. We will be sending help your way, which will eliminate more than half of the time it will take to construct it. You and the community will be shocked at how this help will come about and it may even bring up some fear for many of you. We want you to know that you have nothing to fear and we encourage you to accept the help that is offered. We do want to forewarn you that when help arrives, a presently covert but malevolent presence among you will begin to make itself known. These beings belong to a group who are on a separate mission from you, an opposing mission. They are working to prevent the forward movement of a heart-centered society on earth. We will keep you on a need-to-know basis as far as this is concerned. For now, continue to move forward. We send our love to you all. Remember, dear one, fear is just an illusion. Until next time.

The Blessed City
The sun disappeared; the cool heat vanished off her skin. Her vision fizzled back. Speck by speck until she had to blink to adjust to a new dark. Torches lined the walls in a cave. Carving a curved pathway from rock. The light illuminated the faces of their captors. They had drawn their hoods from their faces, removed the cloth from their mouths. And they were staring at them.

Out the Window
“He was smart. He was wise. He’d profoundly philosophize empathy for all humanity. Till one day by an open window, there's a note that read, ‘I've gone out the window, I'm dead.’ He said yes to life for all his life, but then one day he said, ‘No, I gotta go.’” —The Violent Femmes

Mirror, Mirror
Anja was inside the Facility, staring out the picture window in her Prime’s office and daydreaming. Her eyes skimmed past the blossoming cherry trees, their pink-tinted flowers waving delicately on the breeze, and they skimmed past the murky waters of the river. Instead, she focused on the patch of scrubby trees on the peninsula directly across from the Facility.
