Crystals of Farlesia
There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. Though I am just one story already, the way humans talk of me and my looks, but less about me for I've seen a story far greater than mine yet it starts off so simple and could end in a way you may or may not predict. A Friday of a second semester for high school teens it seems. I was only told to observe from afar. I guess it can start with a boy named Reid, on his way home from that day of school he finally enters the house.

Old World Ways
There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. When I was a girl, they weren’t allowed. Times have changed. The first time I saw a dragon, actually, was at the Valley’s front door. Dad and I used to come every Sunday evening for the roast. It was the one day of the week he got to put on a clean shirt and see his pals, have a laugh and a pint. The men were always kind to me. I think it was great fun for them to have a little one around—children were already becoming scarce in those days. I was sitting at the table with them, sipping milk from a pint glass, swinging my stumpy legs, when a hullabaloo at the pub door caught my attention. Greg, the old barman, was shouting.

Into the Fire
There weren’t always dragons in the valley. Several times Lexi had retraced the desert path, hoping to see them again, but each time she was met with nothing more than a desolate gorge. Jinn had even accompanied her, on the rare morning when he wasn’t fishing for their breakfast or dealing with matters of state. But he had never seen the dragons. Just as he has never seen the value of staying in New Alara, she thought bitterly. Guilt wriggled beneath her skin. She knew Jinn was trying to do what was best for his people. It was only her own selfishness that made her wish he would say, to hell with the Alarans - to hell with the whole planet! - and do what was best for them.

Dancing Among The Stars
There weren't always dragons in the Valley. Many years ago, the entire land was a wasteland, devoid of life of any type. Then came the Great One, the magic user who reshaped the lands, who rebuilt a magical kingdom for those who had lived in fear to come and be free. The dragons soon followed, sworn protectors of the realm, aiding the magical rulers, tying themselves tightly to the throne of the small valley kingdom, making it a true power. Then things in the world started to change, and the Great One, in all his wisdom, cast one final spell. The spell that separated the valley realm from the rest of the world, making people forget about them, as magic faded away from everywhere else, growing stronger and more concentrated over time in the small valley.

Fire Song
Chapter One There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. We are beings of air and fire, of sky and mountain. Our hearts sing with the song of the breeze and our minds dream in the shapes of the clouds. We had wings that let us soar into the heavens, into eternity, into freedom.

The Valley of Kings
"There weren't always dragons in the Valley... It was once a peaceful land filled with lush forests and freshwater streams. People from the surrounding villages used to gather near the river to fish and enjoy the Valley's beauty. It was a peaceful time... But nothing lasts forever.

The Mirage
There weren't always dragons in the Valley. In fact, in these days dragons rarely wandered close to mankind at all. Mankind being a fearful and ignorant race had nearly destroyed the entire species from the known world. Dragons were mostly for tall tales to scare the naive peasants into servitude or were used as excuses for when plans fell through, or crops failed, or invincible armies were defeated. No one took them seriously, even though the reality was that dragons were in fact real. Their role now was borderline religious in nature, shrouded in superstition and misunderstanding. Much of what dragons were capable of was labeled with the broad term 'magic' and left at that. Few tried to understand their ways, even fewer had ever endeavored to seek dragons out or document their behaviors. Only one man in the Westlands was known to study them, and he too tried not to stray too close to the dealings of mankind.
