Unspoken
Choking on words unspoken, they stood there in a staring contest. Not a childish one. No. One that only comes from having met a familiar stranger. The kind that makes you feel safe in the danger they bring to your life. You don’t remember who they are. Or rather, who they were. But you know their familiarity as soon as they’re near. Something all too clearly queer.

Leftover Thank You Cards Make Excellent Coasters
The waiter clicked his pen’s plunge and excused himself to his tasks. Louis’ hand went right to the creamer, and his eyes met Jeannie’s while he fixed his coffee. Her mouth went flat, and she leveled a cold gaze at him. She was watching the serious models with their buoyant physiques parade across the walk while a violent percussion of flashes and clicks accompanied the parched yearning behind dozens of camera lenses. She was listening to the uncreased face inside the heavy shiny caramel blonde mop lament the exhausting tediousness of creating interesting content. He smiled at the sugar in the teaspoon, and curled the youthfully tight dimple his left cheek would make. He was using the club that made no sense, or tacking with an unruly wind his crew could not decipher.

Yours, Truly
All she ever dreamt of having was to get a taste of something different; anything different. A new life. A new beginning. All she's ever wanted was the taste of the type of life she's only dreamt of having. You know the one. The life where havoc was all that was known to the sole perpetrator. The life where you couldn't know whether a person was good or bad; either you trusted everyone, or trusted no one. That life. That's the life she wanted to take a bite out of. Just a taste. Just to get a feel of something... anything... different from her own.

The Phoenix's Song
============================================== “The Phoenix's Song" is a metaphorical title that draws upon the symbolism of the mythical phoenix bird. In mythology, the phoenix is a creature that is said to be reborn from its ashes after burning itself in a fiery blaze. This symbolism is often associated with themes of renewal, transformation, and rebirth. In the context of the letter, "The Phoenix's Song" suggests that the man, who has carried the burden of his past actions for decades, is now seeking redemption and a chance for personal transformation. His letter is akin to the "song" of the phoenix, a heartfelt expression of remorse and the desire for a fresh start. It signifies his willingness to confront his past, acknowledge his mistakes, and attempt to rise from the ashes of his past wrongdoings to become a better person. Overall, the title captures the idea that this letter is about the potential for healing and redemption, much like the mythical phoenix's ability to rise anew from its own destruction.
