H&K: Path of Knowledge
Chapter 1 Tess sat across the table in the hospital cafeteria as the breakfast rush began, staring in disbelief into the face of Doctor Jim Martin, a doctor associated with the hospital she worked as a nurse. She went rigid as he reached across the table to place his hands over hers. He smiled as he continued to speak. She pulled her hands from under his and put them at the edge of the table. His eyes dropped to her breasts. His toothy smirk jolted her into movement. In a flash, she sprang to her feet, hastily pushing the chair back. She grabbed her purse and leaned forward.

*** As soon as the girl returned to her chambers, she removed the robe and flung it onto the bed. She quickly changed into a more practical outfit for hunting down the lord. She was not sure what she would encounter on her new journey, but she would be more adequately prepared. She pulled out sage from her satchel and placed it down on the center of the table. She started to dig for matches but decided to try something else instead. She took a deep breath, closed her eyes, and waved her hand over the sage. As she opened them, she saw the sage ignite slowly. She smiled amusedly and went back to completing her accoutrements.

brave awakening
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS Writing these memories has probably been the hardest for me. Going back to those dark memories have probably been all the more traumatizing for me. But in a way had it not been for my husband giving me the strength to write this. It’s never been easy with my trauma.

To be continued (late night tales of the Kingdoms)
*** As the girl arrived at the marble kingdom, she paused in front of the grand fortress doors. She took in the sight for a moment before entering. This kingdom was one of the most beautiful of all the kingdoms in the land. She was first greeted by the spirits in the castle. They were excited to see her. There were certainly more playful ghosts here. There were also some not so friendly spirits, but she didn't mind. They were all quite fascinating to her. The moment she walked through the doors of the palace, she was instantly glad that she chose this as her first stop. She was delighted to see so many people!

Exile
My Ma and I raised birds when I was a kid. We always found that the birds that lived the longest, were those who couldn’t see the bars of their cage. Those that were kept in a room and didn’t know that outside, birds could fly as far as they wished. They figured that this room was the whole wide world, so they were content with their fate; thinking they were free.

Chapter 2: The Incident at Farmer Krum's Cabin
Time slows to a crawl as Kannan tightens his grip on Dawnbringer’s hilt. Closing both eyes, his heart thundering like a raging winter storm, he readies himself for the impending battle. The sword’s circular pommel stone flares momentarily with bright light. Soon after, the great sword’s blade sings softly as it slowly unsheathes from its scabbard. Heat radiates through Kannan’s body as the blue runes engraved in the sword ignite with an azure glow, enveloping the sharp edges of the blade in a spectral pale aura. Kannan experiences a heightened clarity of thought, a sudden rush of strength, and his mind is flooded with ancient knowledge of countless battles as the spell-forged sword becomes an extension of himself.

Why was she unable to begin the story? Every epic adventure must begin somewhere, right? Well, a story should technically start at the beginning. This story; however, begins a bit closer to the end of the adventure.

Tales from Tabletop
The capital of the Izan Imperium, Izan’Larai, was often considered a crowning jewel of commerce, trade, and beauty, beyond compare. It was also rife with people of all races, be they elf, dwarf, or any other, and all walks of life. It was summer, but the land was largely unaffected by the changing of the seasons. Every day, save days when the sea brought cool mists to shore, was a creeping heat from dawn to dusk. During midday, the market was full to bursting, filled to the brim with merchants, craftsmen, and customers. Rare was a desired item missing from the market. Anything one could want, whether it be rare linens, fine alchemical compounds, or even rare beasts from across the world. Anything worth anything could be found here.
