I am Alive; Prologue.
Hello Everyone! As mentioned in my profile I am writing a book, "A Court of Forsaken Virtues"; This is the prologue to the book. Now I know a free-style poem isn't your usual opening to a book. But I wanted to capture the perspective of-- Kaizen, High Lord of the Royal Wind Court of Circiann! I know I like a little insight to the story before I start, only to find out what I thought was completely different. So, my darling readers, I hope you enjoy this, I did work quite hard. As always, have fun and dream big!

The Suffering Stranded (Disturbing Content Warning: Animal Deaths and Decomposition)
Charlie looked up at the sun shining so brightly overhead, desperate for the sight of a plane. Days before - less than a week, he figured - he'd lost bearing while flying his small plane over the notorious Bermuda Triangle. His plane had gone down in the shallows just off the small, tropical island; there had been no place to properly land on the shoreline then. He'd been stranded, alone, without radio or proper supplies, ever since.

Affinity
“Mission to ground control – do you read me?” Silence. “Atticus to base – do you read me?” Atticus is coming in hot. “Shuttle missed re-entry. Gonna try to put her down a few miles off the coast. “Static.” Atticus slams the console. His transmission goes wry with no intercept. His pod looks like a ball of fire streaking across the blue and white sky. The turbulence is mounting. And so is the temperature. His instruments have a mind of their own. He looks down at a piece of paper with scribbled equations, scrunches it, and tosses it behind him. Atticus’ pod chars in an ozone air fryer.

A Tale of Two Grains
Deep in the vastness of sun and sky, past the cusp of blue on blue, a dark storm raged. It thrashed and threw itself ceaselessly against the ocean, finding the surface to be pliable. Yet as the ocean bent in curving slabs, even as it frothed like fire, it did not break. Unsatisfied, the storm howled and twisted until it found a small black island engulfed in white surf. It scraped long torrents of salt and air down the steep sides of the island’s pinnacle, and found with glee that chunks of sharp crumbling stone could be peeled away and sent crashing into the sea. In the turmoil below, stone turned to rock, then rock ground to sand. One tiny particle of the black island in the sea found itself tumbling endlessly through darkened waves and bright froth as the storm’s senseless fury faded into the distance.

Island of Blood Diamonds
So I got on the plane, and I went to the Island. Yes, the Island. I know I’ve done a lot of crazy things in my life, but this one tops them all. Going ahead to do something as brazen as this could only mean one thing, I was so tired of my life and I needed a change.

Senses of Peace
Licking my lips, I couldn't be sure whether the salty taste was from the breeze of the ocean before me or from the countless tears I had cried. I grabbed fistfuls of sand, trying to get a grip on anything, but it ran out of my palms like an hourglass.

The Paleontologist and the Pilot
Tommy gasped for air as he broke the water's surface. Only minutes ago, he had been flying his small plane over the same water. An unexpected collision with a flock of seabirds disabled the engines, and down he and his plane went. Not all was lost, however; he'd gone down just off of a small, tropical island. Slowly, he swam to the island, clamoring on with great gasps from his labor. As he lay, face against the sandy shore, a shadow approached, until it was standing over him.
