Snow Angel
Waiting for you
I feel the tears on your face bleeding into my heart as you stare out the back window of our house and I know you’re thinking of me. The bittersweet memories this snow covered landscape brings so clearly to your soul are also etched into mine. Can you feel me, Papa, like I can feel you? Can you see me like I can see you? I’m right here, Papa, standing in the snow, under the old apple tree waiting for you.
Open your heart to the good memories we shared in this garden. Remember that you said this garden was my kingdom and that I was your Queen. Remember us underneath the apple tree in summer as you read your book while I would sleep in the grass beside you. I was always beside you, following your every footstep. Remember me following you around as you cut the grass in the summer or remember us rolling around in the snow together every winter.
Winter holds my favourite memories of us; that’s why I’ve come to you now. I need you to feel me and know that I’m here waiting for you. We will be together again when your time comes; this I promise you.
Use your heart to look closely under the apple tree and I will be there. Remember the last words you said to me. Remember our unconditional love.
Remember that you said, forever you will be my human and forever joined together we would be.

Frostbite
Engulfed in the midnight blizzard, I was nothing but another snowflake in the wind. The unrelenting cold enters every pore of my body. Even through three layers of clothing there’s no way to stop it. All I can do is keep moving and hope the exertion will slow down the inevitable long enough to find shelter from the storm. The screaming wind, howling in my face, turns the icy snow into shards of glass that could break through exposed skin, or thin clothing, like tiny bullets. Looking down at my shredded gloves, I can feel the throbbing cold in my fingertips and know it’s only a matter of time before frostbite sets in. I need to find shelter and I need to find it now.

Step One: Lose a child. Not what anyone wants to happen and nothing you can do to change it, but you can go through steps to becoming happy again. You can go through steps to loving again. You can go through steps to become a new you because after losing a child you will never be the same person you once were.

In breaking news, rehabilitated Republican Senator Johnnie Johnson (Pronouns: HE, HIM, HIS) called a press conference from the Men’s room of the New Orleans Louis Armstrong International Airport, Concourse B, across from the Ignatius Reilly’s Lucky Dog stand. The Senator had just returned from a sexual reorientation rehabilitation program in Memphis, TN after being publically disgraced at a Buckee’s Truckstop restroom soliciting sex from an undercover cop three months ago. He is a founding member of the Reformed Christians for Christ, a conservative, pro-family and ex-gay advocacy group. In the spirit of being reborn, Senator Johnson invited reporters to marvel at his plans for a major remodeling of airport bathrooms.
