She had resisted him all night. Instead of surrendering she had fought him. Each time, she fought him with everything she had in her. After the third time, he had fallen asleep. He didn't know when she had left but the last thing he remembered was her curled up into a ball, crying. Oh, well. At least he was satisfied Her, well, he really didn't care. She would either get used to it and surrender, or, fight the good fight every night. Her choice. He figured he'd better go look for her. Just as he stepped out of the bedroom he saw her standing in front of the surveillance monitor as though she was in a trance. She held in her hand a diamond powered lava ray gun, or should I say cannon. This thing could kill anything by burning and disintegrating it in a single blast. Was she planning on using this on him?
Wizard quietly eased over to Ines from behind and put both his arms around her. There was no reaction, and when he peered at the monitor over her shoulder he understood why. There was Stone and his Raging Bull gang riding by. Why were they here? Just then one of his scouts stopped his bike and got off signaling for the gang to stop. He then went over to Stone and started talking to him and pointing in the direction of their last campsite. They were obviously hunting him. So, that's why they didn't pursue recruiting him and his friends at the old outpost station. Everyone had heard him politely refuse and they had left him alone, then, only to hunt him later and press him into service.
"They're after me," he said quietly as he eased the gun from her hand. "They're tracking me. I'm grateful that you have this gun" Now, I can make the world a better place by getting rid of them for good. Give me a voice pod. When I push it, come out to me. I promise that I won't call you if there is any danger. I'm sure that they'll camp in the place where we had set up." Ines never looked up. She walked steadily over to the charging station, took the device off the station and handed it to him without ever raising her head or speaking one word. As he left the entry way, and it closed behind him, she said these words out loud. "I hope you kill each other. I hope to never see you again." He had hurt her.
Wizard had kept to the rocks pretty much as Ines had done when she was was looking for them. Now he had come to the exact spot where he had sensed her, yesterday. He sensed that there was another 'Affected' close by but they were different. His smell was that of being affected by water. He could taste the salt of the sea. He could feel the strength of the mighty whale. He could also sense Stone, but the others were not around. He'd probably sent the others on ahead to try and catch up with Wizard and his friends. He hoped that with driving one vehicle and sharing the driving between the four of them, they wouldn't have to make as many stops. And they had enough gas to last them for at least fourteen days. But, no worries. He had seen them living in New City. He laid the voice pod in the rocks.
"Stone! Are you looking for me?" Wizard called out. Stone didn't answer, but turned and fired his gun hitting Wizard in the right side of his chest knocking him to the ground. "Steele! bring me my smokes, I done killed a man." Stone called, laughing. The 'Water Affected' had seen everything, as he was there to kill Stone himself and had went to his bike to get his pistol so he could carry out his mission. He saw Wizard raise the cannon and said to Stone, "I don't think he's finished." Wizard fired and the bottom half of Stone was gone. Stone began screaming as Wizard fell back to the ground. "Steele! Help me!" he screamed. The 'Water Affected' walked calmly over to where Stone lay, pointed his pistol and unloaded two rounds into Stone's head, killing him instantly. Then he went to check on Wizard...
