Reunited With Grandma

The Miracle of Love

By Debra WhitePublished 3 years ago 5 min read

The train tracks were very familiar to fifteen year old Tony. She spent most of her time hanging out there and watching the many different trains come and go. It was a safe place for her A place to go when she didn't want to be at home. Which was most of the time nowadays. She knew most of the trains schedules. When they would pull in to the station and when they would leave. She knew which trains were the nicest ad the fastest. She had one favorite because it always went so fast, never stopping at the station, never even slowing down. It traveled very fast all the time as if it were late for something. When it did go by it was so fast it was almost a blur. She did finally make out a few of the colors on it. It was a very deep blue with just a hint of gray. No writing on it. Nothing that would give you a clue what it was used fo

Tony would be there sometimes for hours. Watching, listening to the trains while being lost in her own thoughts. So much had changed in the past two years since her Grandmother had died. It had turned her world as she knew it upside down. Her Grandmother was everything to her. /While her Mother and Father would be out drinking every night her grandmother was busy helping her with her homework, fixing her dinner and putting her t bed. She did have an older brother Cody who seemed to care about her about as much as her parents dd. He had just turned eighteen and wanted nothing to do with taking care of his younger sister. He made that very clear.

She idolized her Grandmother in every way. Even at the age of eighty one she was still very pretty and was the kindest person Tony had ever known.

It had been two years now since her Grandmother had her fatal heart attack and it still didn't seem real to Tony. She lost her best friend and the only person she felt truly loved her. She knew that if her Grandmother could have taken her with her she would have. So on this nite Tony decided she had to be with her no matter what. She knew just what she had to do. After al she had been planning it for some time now.

Anytime Tony would ask her mother about where her grandmother had gone she would just smile and say "She is in a good place and she is happy. Definitely in a better place than where we are at.

It was almost 2am when Tony walked out the front door of her h The station was only ten minutes away from where she lived so she had plenty of time to get to the station by 230 when her favorite train would fly past as it did every nite. She had been walking on the tracks and now she could feel the vibrations of the tracks. She was pretty scared about this whole idea but if it got her where she wanted to be it would be so worth it. The vibrations were so intense now she barely keep her footing on the tracks. The light from the train was blaring in her eyes so intensely she could barely see. She stood on the track very still. Closed her eyes tightly and whispered "I Love You Grandma". When Tony opened her eyes again it was still to another bright light. It surrounded her but she didn't mind. It gave her the feeling of love and happiness. There was no fear, no panic only the feeling of being wrapped in a blanket of love and happiness. She hadn't even noticed the woman sitting on the seat directly in front if her. She was beautiful , she was beyond beautiful Tony couldn't even think of the words that could even begin to describe her. She had dark , long silky hair far past the middle of her back. Her eyes were like blue diamonds and her skin totally flawless. She leaned forward in her set a little bit and took Tony's hand in hers. "Do you want to continue on this journey or do you want to go back"? Tony looked at her in total confusion. She had no idea what the woman was talking about. What journey? Go back where? How had she even gotten here? Her last memory before being on the train she was in her room getting ready to go to bed.

Thinking back it had been a better night for her family that most had been for a long time. Her mother and father were home and amazingly not arguing or drunk. Her mother had prepared a real dinner for them. Even her creepy brother was home and sat at the table to eat with them. They were almost like a real , normal family.

so how had she gotten on this speeding train to nowhere. Where had this woman come from? And how was she supposed to answer her questions? The woman looked very seriously at Tony and with her sweet voice she told her. "Tony you chose this journey and now it is up to you if you want to continue it or go home". Her voice seemed so familiar to Tony. But where had she heard it before? "You see honey whatever choice you make will have a very big impact on your family and how the rest of their lives play out." I know where you are at right now feels so good. There is everything here you could ever want or wish for. It really did seem that way. Why would she even consider going back to the way she had been living? She told the woman all about her grandmother and how miserable her life had been since she left. Most of all about how much he missed her and wanted to be with her again. The woman smiled sweetly and kept nodding her head to let Tony know she understood how she felt.

Tonys thoughts drifted back to the night before at her hoe. The nice dinner her family had together. The happy looks on her parents faces and how much she truly did love them. Maybe there was hope for them to be a real family and have a better life. All she had ever wanted was a happy, loving family that cared about She looked at the woman patiently waiting for her answer. Tears welled up in her eyes then began rolling down her cheeks. "I think that I need to go home to my family, they need me and I need them too".

The woman grabbed her and hugged her for a very long time. She too had tears rolling down her face. Somehow even this hug felt familiar to Tony. "I believe you have made the right choice and I am very proud of you". She sat back in her seat, closed her eyes and whispered "Grandma will always love you and be here for you whenever you need me".
