Polly, the talking parrot.
Serving a purpose through helping others
Once upon a time, there was a small village nestled deep in the forest. The villagers lived in harmony with the animals and birds that called the forest their home. One day, a strange animal arrived in the village. It was a beautiful parrot with colorful feathers and a friendly disposition. The villagers were amazed to find that the parrot could talk!
The parrot quickly became the talk of the village and they were so excited to know the parrot's name is called Polly, what a jovial name indeed. Everyone wanted to see and hear the amazing bird that could speak like a human. The children loved to play with the parrot and the elders found solace in listening to its stories. The parrot became a beloved member of the village, and it was welcomed with open arms.
As time went by, the villagers noticed that the parrot seemed to be sad and unhappy. It would often sit quietly on its perch, lost in thought. One day, a young girl from the village approached the parrot and asked it why it was so sad.
The parrot looked at the girl with tears in its eyes and said, "I miss my family. I was taken from my home in the jungle and brought to this village to be a pet. I am happy here, but I long to be with my own kind."
The girl felt a pang of sadness in her heart. She had never thought about the parrot's life before it came to the village. She promised the parrot that she would try to help it find its way back home.
The next day, the girl and her friends set out on a journey through the forest, with the parrot perched on her shoulder. They asked the animals they met along the way if they knew of any parrots that lived in the forest. The animals were friendly and helpful, but none of them had seen any other parrots.
As they were walking through a thick part of the forest, they heard a loud screech. They looked up and saw a group of parrots flying overhead. The parrot on the girl's shoulder screeched back, and the other parrots stopped in mid-air. They circled back and landed on a nearby tree.
The parrot on the girl's shoulder flew up to join the group, and the other parrots welcomed it with open wings. The girl watched as the parrots chirped and chattered, and she knew that the parrot had found its family.
The parrot looked down at the girl and said, "Thank you for helping me find my way home. You have a kind heart, and I will never forget you."
The girl smiled and said goodbye to the parrot. As she and her friends walked back to the village, she felt a sense of fulfillment and joy. She had helped a friend in need, and she had learned an important lesson about the importance of home and family.
From that day on, the parrot would visit the village every now and then. It would perch on a tree and watch as the children played and the elders listened to its stories. The parrot was happy to have found its home, but it was also grateful to have found a second home in the village. And the villagers were happy to have a talking parrot not just as a friend but also a cherished visitor whenever she flies there to meet them.
Due to the intelligent nature of being a parrot, she has also been a frequent emotional supporter for any of the villagers who are experiencing challenges. As for Polly, she truly enjoys helping a friend in need because it is her main purpose in life, to serve people who need her the best she can.
