Christine's suggestion to"get rid of Dave" was one of wishful thinking. Yes. she'd bashed him over the head but this was out of necessity and not any real murderous feeling. She'd had to act.

She did want Dave out of her life and him disappearing would present a scenario of less hassle but her thinking wasn't clear. She was hurt and angry and she wanted to see him punished but dead? And at her hand? No. That kick on the shin though had felt really good.

All she wanted from him now was the truth. Whatever that was, even if it meant that she would be a prison widow and have to come to terms with the fact that she lived with someone who had killed his daughter.

But, and she thought this with all the derisory scorn which was being produced by her adrenaline to keep her from collapsing, I don't think that we will ever know the truth.

She took satisfaction from seeing Dave shrink when she suggested getting rid of him. She wasn't sure what it would take for him to tell the truth. Torture? Hangman's noose? She would not be able to live with herself if she had been the orchestrator of his death.

Bethan was talking. She decided to test Dave before calling it a day and contacting the police. Because that was what she was going to have to do. And she was going to have to have a conversation with Christine about how she knew Katie and deal with the fallout from that. In fact, she was more concerned about that than the circus that was bound to ensue once Dave was in custody. One thing at a time, Bethan, she thought. Don't leap ahead.

"Dave, did you hear that? Christine thinks that we should get rid of you."

Bethan got up. Dave tried to speak but Bethan talked over him.

"I don't think that's a bad idea. You see, I don't think you're capable of telling us the truth. I think you'll keep up this charade rather than own up to anything you may have done."

She stopped for effect and then decisively said:

"Christine? Grab his feet."

Waterboarding works every time and no one can prove you did it.

Don't forget to bend your knees ladies - you don't want to put your backs out tossing him into the quarry! Time to stop messing about and just get rid of him! Fab stuff Rachel - love your series a lot.

Maybe she should keep him tied up and kick him in the shins every so often. I like how you portray the dilemma of actually committing murder, not that easy.

    So bluff it is!

  • Defo should sling him over whilst they still have a fighting chance.
